Kathmandu: A major flash flood swept through Nepal’s Rasuwa district on Wednesday morning, sending a powerful surge of water, sediment and large boulders into the Bhote Koshi and Trishuli river systems and raising concerns about further downstream impacts.
According to the International Centre for Integrated Mountain Development (ICIMOD), water levels in the Bhote Koshi basin began rising rapidly at around 9:00 am local time. The flood breached riverbanks and travelled downstream through the Bhote Koshi into the Trishuli River, with potential impacts extending to Nuwakot and Dhading districts.
