Nepal’s Search For Climate Justice

Nepal is responsible for less than a tenth of one per cent of greenhouse gas emissions, ranking at 95th position in warming the planet. Ask a glacier in the Himalaya, though, and you'll get a very different kind of answer. This is one of the fastest-warming regions on Earth, and Nepal routinely turns up near the top of the world's lists, standing in 6th position among most climate-vulnerable countries. That gap, between a country that barely caused the problem and a country being made to pay for it first, is really what people mean when they talk about "climate justice." It's not an abstraction.
