Nepal Insurance Authority Calls for Public Complaints Regarding Insurance Claims

Kathmandu. The Nepal Insurance Authority has called on the general public to file complaints if there are any problems in determining insurance liabilities and processing claims. The authority has issued a public notice to submit complaints with evidence for action, as various grievances are being received by the authority regarding some insurers, their employees, and surveyors acting in contravention of prevailing insurance laws, regulatory arrangements, and professional ethics. According to the authority, complaints can be filed if any insurer, insurer's employee, insurance surveyor, or any other party causes trouble, prepares false statements, or conceals facts. Similarly, if facts are distorted, biased evaluations are made, undue benefits are taken, or any other illegal act is committed, action will be taken against the individuals involved in such acts in accordance with the Insurance Act, 2079. When submitting a complaint, the concerned party must attach various necessary details. These include the complainant's name, address, and contact number, the name of the relevant insurance company, and the details of the problem. In addition, the insurance claim number and policy number, and documents, photos, videos, or other evidence to support the claim will be required. The public can submit complaints through various means. Complaints can be submitted in person at the registration branch of the Nepal Insurance Authority's central office located in Kupandole, Lalitpur. Complaints can also be sent via email to [email protected] or [email protected] , or by post to the Nepal Insurance Authority, Central Office, Lalitpur M.N.P.A. 10, Kupandole, Lalitpur. The authority has clarified that the investigation will be carried out and necessary action will be taken in accordance with the Insurance Act, 2079, and other prevailing laws, while maintaining the confidentiality of the received complaints and evidence.
