Kathmandu. The government has proposed stricter penalties for traffic violations, including a Rs 10,000 fine for using a mobile phone while driving and a Rs 2,000 fine for offline ride-sharing, under a draft bill aimed at strengthening road safety and regulating the transport sector.
The proposed provisions are included in the Bill to Amend and Consolidate Vehicle and Transport-Related Laws, prepared by the Ministry of Infrastructure Development. The draft has been forwarded to the Ministry of Law, Justice, and Parliamentary Affairs for feedback and suggestions.
