Uganda Unveils Monument to Slain Israeli Commander Yonatan Netanyahu in Entebbe

Entebbe. The Ugandan army has unveiled a monument in memory of Lieutenant Colonel Yoni Netanyahu, the elder brother of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who was killed during the historic hostage rescue operation at Entebbe Airport in 1976. This move has been presented as an effort to honor military courage and dedication to duty.

Uganda's Army Chief General Muhoozi Kainerugaba unveiled a life-size statue of Yoni Netanyahu holding an assault rifle outside the terminal of Entebbe International Airport on Saturday. The ceremony was attended by Ugandan businessman Barak Orland and representatives of the Israeli community. Kainerugaba is considered the eldest son and potential successor of President Yoweri Museveni.
