Greta Thunberg Calls Nepal's Climate Aid 'Climate Reparations', Not Aid

Kathmandu. Swedish climate activist Greta Thunberg, linking the recent devastating avalanche in Nepal to floods and humanitarian crises to climate change, has stated that financial assistance provided by developed countries to Nepal should be understood as 'climate reparations' rather than 'aid'.

Claiming that as of September 4, 1,287 people had died in Nepal, approximately 5,083 were out of contact or missing, and thousands were injured, Thunberg noted that the scale of the disaster was 'beyond imagination'. According to her, the international community cannot shirk its responsibility by merely interpreting such a large-scale destructive event as a natural disaster.
