Tehran. Iran has formally determined the boundaries of a new management and monitoring area as a step to further tighten its control over the Strait of Hormuz, one of the world's most sensitive maritime trade routes. The newly formed Persian Gulf Strait Authority (PGSA) has announced that ships crossing the strait will now be required to coordinate and obtain permission.
According to details released by PGSA on the social media platform X, the new supervision area extends from Kuh-e Mobarak in Iran to the southern maritime area of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates. This area is said to be in the eastern part of the Strait of Hormuz. The management area is mentioned to start from an imaginary line connecting the final point of Iran's Qeshm Island and Umm Al Quwain in the United Arab Emirates.
