Kathmandu Metropolitan City to Make All Buildings Disaster Resilient Within Five Years

Kathmandu. Kathmandu Metropolitan City is going to start a campaign to make all buildings within the metropolitan area disaster resilient within the next five years. Presenting the policy and program for the financial year 2083/084, the metropolis has announced that it will start the work of risk survey, strengthening, and maintenance of buildings with community participation from this year.

The metropolis has brought a new plan to minimize major disasters that may occur in urban areas and the economic damage caused by them. The policy and program mentions that arrangements will be made to insure all types of public and private buildings and physical structures to be constructed and already constructed within the metropolitan area for risk transfer and financial security at a concessional rate.
