Bangladeshi Diaspora Remits Nearly $6 Billion in Three Months

Kathmandu. Government statistics show that millions of Bangladeshis living and working abroad sent approximately six billion US dollars in remittances home during the three months of July-August. Official statistics quoted by Bangladesh Bank spokesperson and executive director Arif Hossain Khan stated, "Remittance, one of the major sources of Bangladesh's foreign exchange, increased by 22.5 percent in August compared to the same month last year, reaching two billion nine hundred sixty million seven hundred thousand dollars." He added that Bangladeshis sent two billion eight hundred fifty million nine hundred thousand dollars in remittances home in July. According to the bank, Bangladesh's remittances reached an all-time high of over 35 billion dollars in the fiscal year 2025/26. Remittances to Bangladesh primarily come from Middle Eastern countries such as the United Arab Emirates, Saudi Arabia, and Kuwait.
