Madan Puraskar Winner Beena Joshi Discusses Her Book on Traditional Mask Dances

Born in Biratnagar, raised in Kathmandu, and educated in Malangawa, Sarlahi, Veena Joshi (Rajbhandari) has become the winner of the Madan Puraskar for 2082. The Madan Puraskar Guthi announced on Sunday that Joshi's book 'Traditional Mask Dances of the Newar Community' has been selected for the Madan Puraskar.
This book by dance art critic Joshi was released on Jestha 3, 083. It has 17 sections and is 1400 pages long. She has documented the history of the endangered tantric and traditional deity mask dances (Khwapa: Pyakhan) and their gurus within the Kathmandu Valley.
