Police Jawan Missing After Flood, Wife Attempts Suicide

Butwal. Kapilvastu's Maharajganj Municipality-4 Baraiyapur's 23-year-old police jawan Ashish Gadariya married 21-year-old Priyanka of Shuddhodhan Rural Municipality-Badahawa on May 31. At the time of marriage, Ashish had just completed his Nepal Police jawan training and was deployed to the field. After a few days of marriage, he went to Rasuwa for his work area. While the newlywed couple was weaving new dreams of life together, Ashish's duty separated them. But Priyanka would hardly have thought that the distance would be so long. On August 10, after the devastating flood in Bhote Koshi, Rasuwa, Ashish went missing. There has been no news of him since then. As it is about to be two weeks since Ashish went missing, the worry, pain, and suspicion in his family have deepened. Ashish is the only son of the house. About 17 months after joining the Nepal Police, he was working in the Mailung area of Rasuwa. He went missing in the flood at the very beginning of his job. After her husband's condition became unknown, Priyanka is in deep stress. On Sunday morning, she even attempted suicide. Her life was saved as the family and locals found out in time. Kapilvastu Deputy Superintendent of Police DSP Ripendra Kumar Singh said that Priyanka is currently undergoing treatment at Lumbini Provincial Hospital, Butwal. According to Ashish's brother-in-law Hemant Pal, Priyanka's condition has improved somewhat today, Monday, after treatment. He told Ratopati that she has been moved from the ICU to the general ward. 'The doctor has asked to feed her porridge today. She is now able to eat something,' Pal said. According to Pal, who is with Priyanka at the hospital, although her body has improved, her mind is still waiting for news of Ashish. 'There is hope that some news of Ashish will come. But he is still missing. There is both hope and fear about when he will come and what news will come,' he said. The condition of Ashish's parents is also the same as Priyanka's. After their only son has been missing for a long time, mother Nirmala and father Khedu are worried day and night. According to Maharajganj Municipality-4 Ward Chairman Shailendranath Shukla, Ashish's family is currently under great stress. 'Ashish is the only son of the house. He had just started his police job. The marriage also took place only a few months ago,' said Ward Chairman Shukla. 'After the son went missing, the parents' condition is very bad.' For the family, Ashish's absence is not just the pain of losing a relative. It has become an uncertain wait that is increasing every day. The family is waiting by the door, hoping someone will bring news, or the phone will ring and they will hear Ashish's voice. The police have stated that the search for Ashish is ongoing. However, DSP Ripendra Singh said that no good news has been received about his condition so far.
