2 terrorists killed in military operation in SW Pakistan

ISLAMABAD: The Pakistan army has killed two terrorists during an operation in Kech district of the country’s southwest Balochistan province, the military said in a statement.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR), the media wing of the Pakistan army, said that security forces launched an intelligence-based operation on Friday evening in Balor area in Hoshab region of Kech district.

According to the ISPR, the operation started against the terrorists linked to firing incidents on security forces and civilians and the planting of improvised explosive devices (IEDs) on highways.

“As a result of continuous intelligence, surveillance and reconnaissance of the area, a location of the terrorists was identified and security forces were dropped with helicopters,” said the ISPR, adding that two terrorists were killed in the exchange of fire after they started firing at the security personnel.

The ISPR said that a cache of arms and ammunition, including IEDs, was discovered from the terrorists, and security forces remain determined to thwart attempts at sabotaging peace, stability and progress of Balochistan.
