Plot Summary
This story is about a boy named Elmer Elevator and the amazing adventure he had when he was younger. One day, Elmer found a stray cat and brought it home. He and the cat became friends, but his mother didn’t like the cat. She thought it was ugly and didn’t even let it have milk.
The cat told Elmer about a baby dragon that was trapped on Wild Island. The dragon was tied up and forced to carry animals and their things across a river. The cat said the dragon needed help, and Elmer decided to rescue it.
Elmer packed a bag with useful things like chewing gum, lollipops, a comb, and other small items. He sneaked onto a ship and sailed to an island near Wild Island. From there, he made his way to Wild Island, where the adventure began.
On Wild Island, Elmer faced many dangers. The animals on the island didn’t want him to rescue the dragon. They tried to stop him, but Elmer was very clever. He used the items in his bag to get past them.
Going into the jungle, Elmer met scary animals such as tigers, a rhinoceros, and even a gorilla. Bright green-eyed, loud tigers it was. Being chased by a rhinoceros, he went out. Since he wanted to save the dragon, he kept going though he felt scared.
Finally, Elmer found the baby dragon all tied up with ropes. The dragon was sad, tired, but happy to see Elmer at last. Elmer wasted no time using his wit and some tools to set the dragon free. Just as all the other animals knew what was happening, Elmer and the dragon had disappeared.
The dragon took Elmer on his back, and up into the sky they soared. Soon, Elmer and the dragon were good friends and the island was left far behind them.
