Jivit Putrika' in Sanskrit, Jiyatiya in Hindi, and Terai Madhesi women in Nepal observe 'Jitiya' as an exciting festival celebrated for the happiness, joy, and progress of their children and it is celebrated as Jivit Putra Parva. Jivit means living and Putra means son or a generic connotation for children, be it son or daughter. Putra means son but not confined to male connotation, in general, Putra resembles to the reliable and responsible children, Jitiya is a celebration of wrata anticipating a responsible son and daughter and their wellbeing.

संस्कृतमा 'जिवित पुत्रिका', हिन्दीमा जियतिया र नेपालमा तराइवासी मधेशी महिलाहरू 'जितिया'लाई आफ्नो सन्तानको सुख, आनन्द र प्रगतिका निमित्त मनाइने एउटा उत्साहजनक चाडका रूपमा लिन्छन् र यसलाई जिवित पुत्र पर्वको रूपमा मनाइन्छ । यो पर्व अश्विनको अष्ठमी तिथीको कृष्ण पक्षको दिन मनाइन्छ । यो पर्व खासगरि आमाहरूले आफ्नो जिवित पुत्रहरूकालागि व्रत बस्ने गर्दछन् । महिलाहरु 'निर्जला' अर्थात पानी समेत सेवन नगरिकन २४ घण्टासम्म भगवान 'जीतमहान गोँसाई'को पूजाआजा गरी कठोर व्रत बस्ने परम्परा रहिआएको छ ।

The 16-day Pitri Paksha has a big role to play in the beginning of the Dashain, 16 days of Pitri Paksha started from today. These 16 days are the homage fortnight to ancestors, ancestor means Pitri in Sanskrit so these days are called Pitri Parksha.

दसैँको सुरुवातमा १६ दिनको पितृ पक्षको ठुलो भूमिका छ, आजबाट यो पितृ पक्ष प्रारम्भ भयो । पितृ कर्मलाई सनातन संस्कारको केन्द्रबिन्दुका रूपमा लिइएको छ, सात पुस्ता सम्मलाई पितृ तर्पण दिने चलनले त झन् पितृ कर्मको महत्त्व तथा आफ्ना बाबु, बाजेलगायतका एउटा ठुलो कालखण्डप्रति वर्तमान पुस्ताको समर्पण भावको अद्भुत नमुना हो १६ श्राद्ध र यसले वैदिक सनातन संस्कारको उँचाइ र महत्त्वलाई थप स्पष्ट पार्छ ।

The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped. Special worship to Lord Vishnu is done in the form of Satya Narayan Puja. Satya Narayan Puja is usually performed whenever possible, although the fruits of this puja performed on the day of the full moon are very abundant.

शुक्ल पक्षको अन्तिम दिन पूर्णिमा हो । यस तिथीमा चन्द्रमा सर्वाधिक चम्किलो र तेजिलो रुपमा रहेको हुन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्नाले चन्द्रमाको असिम कृपा प्राप्त हुने र स्वास्थ, समृद्धि र शान्ति प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ । पूर्णिमाको दिन विशेषगरि भगवान शिव र विष्णुको आराधना गरिन्छ । भगवान विष्णुलाई गरिने विशेष अर्चनालाई सत्य नारायण पुजाको स्वरुपमा गरिन्छ । सामान्यतया सत्य नारायण पुजा जहिले गरे पनि हुने कार्य हो यद्धपि पूर्णिमाको दिनमा गरिने यस पुजाको फल निकै धेरै पाइन्छ ।

काठमाडौँ एउटा इतिहासै इतिहासको सहर हो, देवाधिदेव महादेवको पवित्र पाशुपत क्षेत्रको इतिहास कुनै काव्य या इतिहासका ताम्र पत्र या शिलालेखमा उल्लेख छैन तथापि यस सहर बासीको सहिष्णुता, संस्कार, सभ्यता अनि सांस्कृतिक धरोहरहरू आज विश्व कालागि नै एउटा अनमोल प्राचीन सम्पत्ति भएको छ ।

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

Vamana Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the incarnation day of Lord Vishnu as Vamana. Vamana Jayanti is celebrated on the Dwadashi date of Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha. According to the Bhagavata Purana, Vamana was the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu out of the Dashavatara and the first incarnation in the Treta Yuga.

भाद्र शुल्क पक्षको द्वादशीलाई वामन द्वादशी या वामन जयन्ती भन्ने गरिन्छ। धार्मिक ग्रन्थ अनुसार आजको शुभ तिथिमा भगवान श्रीकृष्णले वामन अवतार लिनुभएको थियो। धर्तिमा अन्याय र अत्त्याचार बढ्दै गएपछि, भगवानले कुनै न कुनै अवतारमा आएर त्यो अत्त्याचार गर्ने शैतानको विनास गरेको धेरै कथाहरु हामीले सुनेका छौ। भगवान विष्णुले अरु अवतार जस्तै वामन अवतार पनि यस्तै शैतानी शक्तिको विनास गर्न लिनुभएको थियो।

There is a classical belief that there is no other way to destroy sins than this Ekadashi brat. It is believed that fasting on Haripariwartini Ekadashi will bring the results equivalent of performing supreme Vajpayee Yajna. Haripariwartini Ekadashi is also called Jayanti Ekadashi and Waaman Ekadashi.

हरिपरिवर्तिनी एकादशीलाई जयन्ती एकादशी र वामन एकादशी पनि भनिन्छ । पापहरुको नाश गर्न यस एकादशीको ब्रत भन्दा ठुलो अरु कुनै उपाय नभएको शास्त्रीय मान्यता रहेको छ । हरिपरिवर्तिनी एकादशीमा निष्ठापूर्वक व्रत लिनाले वाजपेय यज्ञको फल प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ ।पौराणिक कथन अनुसार भदौ महिनाको शुक्लपक्ष एकादशीको नाम हरिपरिवर्तिनी एकादशी हो ।

Meaning: Lord Sri Krishna's full wealth is Sri Radharani and Sri Radharani's full wealth is Sri Krishna, therefore every moment of my life should be spent in the shelter of Sri Radha-Krishna.

यि १६ दिनमा धन अनि ऐश्वर्यकी देवी महालक्ष्मीको अर्चना गरिन्छ, समुन्द्र मन्थनका क्रममा क्षीर सागरमा उत्पन्न यि लक्ष्मी देवीको शुभबिवाह भगवान बिष्णुसंग भएको हो । कमलको फूलमा विराजमान देवपी लक्ष्मीको हत्केलावाट हरेकवखत धातुका सिक्काहरु खस्दछन्, यि बिम्बलाई केलाएर हेर्ने हो भनें धनकी देवी कोमल मन अनि सहज उपस्थितीकी प्रतिमा हुन् ।

It is customary to fast on Sasthi Tithi from the Sukla Paksha of the month of Bhadra and commemorate this day in the name of the Sun God. This date is called Surya Shashthi. The Sun is the most powerful, bright, and vast thing that human beings can see from the earth and humans have ever seen from their planet.

भाद्र महिनाको शुक्ल पक्षको षष्ठी तिथिमा व्रत लिएर यो दिनमा सूर्य देवताका नाममा समर्पण गर्ने चलन छ । यो तिथिलाई सूर्य षष्ठी भनिन्छ । मानवले पृथ्वीवाट देख्ने सबैभन्दा शक्तिशाली, चम्किलो र विशाल बस्तु नै सूर्य हो । चराचर जगतका पालनहार यिनै सूर्य देवताको अपरम्पार महिमा पुराण, गीतालगायत अन्य सबै ग्रन्थहरूमा छ । आज तिनै सूर्य देवताको नाममा व्रत लिएर सूर्य षष्ठी मनाइन्छ ।

Two days after Krishna Janaasthami, Aja Ekadashi falls every year. Aja Ekadashi is also known and addresses as Kamika Ekadashi and Anand Ekadashi however, Aja is more popular. In this month of Shrawan, auspicious Aja Ekadashi is entirely dedicated to Lord Vishnu and goddesses Laxmi.

This day literally translates to civil servant's day but much broader democratic meaning can be derived from placing in as civil service worker's day. गाईजात्राको भोलीपल्ट रोपाई जात्रा मनाउने चलन मल्लकाल बाट चलिआएको हो । उतिखेरको समृद्ध राज्यहरुमा कृषीलाई विशेष दिँदै राजा प्रताप मल्लले रोपाई जात्राको शुरुवात गरेको मानिन्छ । विशेषत चैत्य, वहाल र टोलका फलैँचाहरुमा आजका दिन स्थानीयहरु भेला भएर यस जात्रा मनाउने चलन छ ।

ब्राह्मण र क्षत्रिय पुरुषहरूले हिन्दु परम्परा अनुसार यज्ञोपवीत अर्थात जनै लगाउने चलन रही आएको छ । बाल्यकाल पश्चात् विधिपूर्वक व्रतबन्ध कर्म सम्पन्न गरी गुरु-पुरोहितद्वारा अरूले नसुन्ने गरी कानमा गायत्री मन्त्रको उच्चारण गरेपछि एउटा निष्ठामय धर्म र सत्यको बाटो अवलम्बन गर्ने दृढ सङ्कल्प लिएर देब्रे काँधमाथि पर्ने गरी दाहिने हातको मुन्तिर पारेर गुरु पुरोहितले मन्त्रेर तयार पारेको जनै ग्रहण गरिन्छ ।

The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped. Special worship to Lord Vishnu is done in the form of Satya Narayan Puja. Satya Narayan Puja is usually performed whenever possible, although the fruits of this puja performed on the day of the full moon are very abundant.

शुक्ल पक्षको अन्तिम दिन पूर्णिमा हो । यस तिथीमा चन्द्रमा सर्वाधिक चम्किलो र तेजिलो रुपमा रहेको हुन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्नाले चन्द्रमाको असिम कृपा प्राप्त हुने र स्वास्थ, समृद्धि र शान्ति प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ । पूर्णिमाको दिन विशेषगरि भगवान शिव र विष्णुको आराधना गरिन्छ । भगवान विष्णुलाई गरिने विशेष अर्चनालाई सत्य नारायण पुजाको स्वरुपमा गरिन्छ । सामान्यतया सत्य नारायण पुजा जहिले गरे पनि हुने कार्य हो यद्धपि पूर्णिमाको दिनमा गरिने यस पुजाको फल निकै धेरै पाइन्छ ।

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

Kalki is the tenth manifestation of Sri Har or Lord Vishnu. The tenth and last incarnation of Lord Vishnu "Kalki Avatar" is a religious belief that this Avatar will be born on this day. Or in other words, Kalki's incarnation will come to this planet on this day, so the welcome rituals are performed in the form of Kalki Jayanti. At the end of the present Kali Yug , when virtue and dharma have disappeared and the world is ruled by the unjust, Kalkin will appear to destroy the wicked and to usher in a new age. He will be seated on a white horse with a naked sword in his hand, blazing like a comet.

सनातन दर्शनमा मनाइने पौराणिक दिवसहरुमा कल्की जयन्ती पनि एउटा दिवस हो । करिब ३००० वर्ष अगावै बाट यस दिवस मनाइन थालेको प्रमाण छ । श्रावण शुक्ल षष्ठिका दिन सेतो रंगको घोडामा बिराजमान भएर सबै देवदेवताका साथ कल्की भगवान धर्तिमा अवतरण गर्ने जनविश्वास छ । यसै आगमनको आशामा हरेक वर्ष श्रावण शुक्ल पञ्चमीमा कल्की जयन्ती मनाइने गरिन्छ । भगवान विष्णुको यो अवतार ६४ ओटा कलाले युक्त हुन्छ। पुराण अनुसार भगवान विष्णुको यो अवतारले एकजना तपस्वी ब्राह्मणको घरमा पुत्रको रुपमा जन्म लिनेछन् भने देवदत्त नामक घोडामा सवार भएर संसारमा पापिहरुको विनास गर्नेछन् ।

Nag Panchami, I call it a fulcrum of monsoon, right in the midpoint and this midpoint is culturally stated as Naagpanchami. The convoy of festivals has started and now in the hot sun, there is a hint of Dashain. Sanatana festivals are not only associated with religion but also with culture, our culture is further enriched by festivals like Nag Panchami, the day to worship reptiles, and dedicated to the serpent god, Naag.

The feet of the Varaha incarnation represents the Vedas, his teeth represent the sacrifice, his eyes represent day and night, and his head represents Lord Brahma- Hail Varaha Awatar.

Milk rice (Kheer) is a sweet and nutritious food and this is the dish that is prepared after the combined cooking of Sankhar or Gund with our favorite milk rice, Kheer. Budhaastami brings several dimensions and devotion, Lord Shiva and Parwati are especially worshiped and prayed on this day, and people observe fasting and visit temples. According to the Sanatan legend, it is believed that one who observes this day of Budhaastami, never goes to hell, after death. Shrawaan is the month of water and its feature, Shrawaan is the month of Shambhu and his followers, from Kailash Parwat till the north pole, from the dead sea, will the south pole, may Shrawan prevail the goodies and purity, may Lord Shiva reside in every hearts.

On the day of Asar 29th, every year Bhanu Jayanti is celebrated. Bhanubhakta Acharya was born in 1871 BS in a place called Chundi Ramgha in present-day Tanahu district to a wealthy family. He lived for 54 years.

विसं १८७१ मा अहिलेको तनहुँ जिल्लाको चुँदी रम्घा भन्ने ठाउँमा भानुभक्त आचार्यको जन्म एउटा हुनेखाने परिवारमा भएको हो। ब्राह्मण परिवारको जन्म भएकाले भानुभक्तको शिक्षादीक्षा लालन पालन त्यसै अनुरूप धार्मिक अनि सांस्कृतिक अनुशासनमा भएको हो । अहिलेको नेपाली भाषालाई उति बेला "खस्" भाषा भनिन्थ्यो र यो भाषा लिपिबद्ध भन्दा पनि सामान्य अभिव्यक्तिहरूमा मात्र सीमित थियो । १५ औँ शताब्दीमा "खस्" राजाहरूको पराजयसँगै "खस्" भाषा पनि ओझेलमा परेको थियो ।

Welcome to the Ekadashi which falls on the Krishna Paksha of Shrawan, this holy Ekadashi is divinely named Kamika Ekadashi. One who fasts this day and honors Lord Vishnu gets rid of sins and attains lord Vishnu after death.

आज ब्रह्मा विवर्त पुराणका पानाहरू पल्टाउन चाहन्छौँ यस वर्षको श्रावण कृष्ण एकादशी अर्थात् कामिका एकादशीको पावन अवसरमा । जजसले यस एकादशीको व्रत कथा भक्तिका साथ श्रवण गर्दछ उसले वैकुण्ठ प्राप्त गर्दछ भनी एकादशी महापुराणमा लेखिएको छ ।

सन् १९८९ बाट हरेक बर्ष विश्वभरिका जनसंख्याका मुद्दाहरुलाई सम्बोधन गर्ने हेतुले विश्व जनसंख्या दिवस हरेक वर्ष जुलाई महिनाको ११ तारेखका दिन मनाउन थालिएको हो । रोचक कुरा त के छ भने सन् १९८७ को जुलाई ११ तारिखका दिन विश्वको जनसंख्या करिब ५ अरब पुगेको अवसरमा भएको पपुलेशन समिटले यो दिवस मनाउने घोषणा गरेको हो ।

"हे भगवान ! मलाई सदैव सत्यतालाई आत्मसाथ गर्न देऊ, मलाई अज्ञानताको अँध्यारोमा नराख, सदैव ज्ञान र चेतनाको उज्यालो देऊ, त्यस तर्फको मार्ग देखाऊ र मलाई यस्तो ज्ञान देउ कि म यो भौतिक संसार र मृत्युको भयभन्दा पर ज्ञानको उज्यालोमा अमर रहन सकूँ ।"

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ। शनिबारका दिन प्रदोष व्रत परेकाले शनि प्रदोष व्रत भनिएको हो ।

National Paddy Day / Dhan Diwas has been formally celebrated in Nepal since 2061 BS. आईतवार र सप्तमी तिथि परेको दिनलाई रविसप्तमी भनिन्छ । यस्तो संयोग परेको दिन भगवान् सूर्य नारायणको पूजा, अर्चना व्रत आदि गरिन्छ । नवग्रह तथा देवताहरूकापनि वन्दनीय सूर्य भगवान् सम्पूर्ण जगतलाई आफ्नो स्वभावको तेजले प्रकाशमय बनाउने र प्रेरणा प्रदायक सूर्य भगवानको यसदिन उपासना गर्नाले पद, प्रतिष्ठा, ऐश्वर्य, सन्तान सुख तथा मानो वाञ्छित फल मिल्नेकुरा शास्त्रोक्त रहेको छ ।

The Yoga Sutras are credited to Adiyogi Lord Shiva. The yoga practices that started from Shiva have come to us through generations of Saptarishis, scholars, sages, and Gurus. According to architectural studies, the idol of Lord Shiva in the meditation posture is considered to be the oldest.

अर्थात् चित्त र वृत्तिको निरोध नै योग हो । योगको अर्थ जोड्नु हो । योग एक विशेष क्रिया हो, योग क्रियाले मानिसको चेतना र शरीरबिचको सम्बन्धलाई जोड्ने काम गर्दछ । मन र मस्तिष्कको सम्बन्धलाई नै योग भनिन्छ । योगबाट मानसिक शान्तिका साथै रोग प्रतिरोध क्षमताको समेत वृद्धि हुने विश्वास गरिएको छ ।

यस्ता धेरै जनमनमा लोकप्रिय गीत अनि नेपाली जीवनशैली सबैभन्दा व्यस्त मध्येको एउटा महिना हो आषाढ । कृषि अनि कृतीको पर्याय यो महिना एउटा प्रेरक महिना पनि हो । आषाढ सङ्क्रान्तिबाट सूर्य पनि मिथुन राशिमा प्रवेश गर्ने भएकाले यस दिनलाई मिथुन सङ्क्रान्ति भनिन्छ ।

Today, an idol of Lord Narayan is installed by fasting, and is revered. Offering vog means offering food, fruits, Naivedh, etc. It is the broad spectrum of living; Sanatan people consider the idol as a living god and treats it with grain, devotion, and other offerings. People donate to needy people under the grace of that idol, they lighten the incense sticks and also perform Aaratis.

यस दिन व्रत बसेर भगवान् नारायणको प्रतिमा स्थापित गरी श्रद्धापूर्वक त्यस प्रतिमालाई भोग लगाइन्छ । भोग लगाउनु अर्थात् खानेकुरा, फलफूल , नैवेद, आदि चढाउनु हो । धूप दिपले आरती उतार्ने र दान दिने गरिन्छ । यस एकादशीमा पिपलको पूजा गर्नाले सम्पूर्ण पाप नष्ट भई मृत्युपश्चात् स्वर्ग लोक प्राप्त हुन्छ भन्ने मान्यता छ । दशमीको दिनबाटै जौ, गहुँ वा मुँगीको दाल लगायत कुनै तामसिक भोजन गर्न वञ्चित छ ।

World Environment Day 2023 is the biggest international day for the environment. Led by the United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP), and held annually since 1974, it has grown to be the largest global platform for environmental outreach. It is celebrated by millions of people across the world.

जुन महिनाको ५ तारिखमा विश्वव्यापी मनाइने रूपमा यो दिवसमा यसपालिको नारा भने'" Only one earth" अर्थात् केवल एउटा पृथ्वी भन्ने छ ।यस नाराले प्रकृतिसँग मेलमिलापमा दिगो रूपमा बाँच्ने आवश्यकता र नीतिहरू र व्यक्तिगत छनोटहरू दुवै मार्फत हरियाली जीवनशैलीमा सर्ने हाम्रो सम्भावनाहरूमा केन्द्रित हुन पैरवी गर्दछ। केवल एक पृथ्वी सन् १९७२ को स्टक होम सम्मेलनको लागि आदर्श वाक्य र नारा थियो।

The eighth month of the Newa calendar is Tachala which coincides with the second month of Bikram Samvat. The full moon begins on the 15th day, starting with the new moon. This month is also divided into Shuklapaksha and Chandrapaksha which are called Tachala Thwa and Tachala Ga.

नेवा पात्रोको आठौंमहिना तछला हो जुन बिक्रम संवतको जेष्ठ महिनासंग ठोकिने गर्दछ । तछला नयाँ चन्द्रमासंगै शुरु भएर १५ औं दिनमा पूर्णचन्द्र पर्न आँउदछ । यस मासलाई पनि शुक्लपक्ष र चन्द्रपक्ष गरि दुई पक्षमा विभाजन गरिन्छ जसलाई तछला थ्व र तछला गा भनिन्छ ।

The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped. Special worship to Lord Vishnu is done in the form of Satya Narayan Puja. Satya Narayan Puja is usually performed whenever possible, although the fruits of this puja performed on the day of the full moon are very abundant.

शुक्ल पक्षको अन्तिम दिन पूर्णिमा हो । यस तिथिमा चन्द्रमा सर्वाधिक चम्किलो र तेजिलो रूपमा रहेको हुन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्नाले चन्द्रमाको असीम कृपा प्राप्त हुने र स्वास्थ्य, समृद्धि र शान्ति प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ । पूर्णिमाको दिन विशेषगरि भगवान् शिव र विष्णुको आराधना गरिन्छ । भगवान् विष्णुलाई गरिने विशेष अर्चनालाई सत्य नारायण पुजा को स्वरूपमा गरिन्छ । सामान्यतया सत्य नारायण पूजा जहिले गरे पनि हुने कार्य हो यद्यपि पूर्णिमाको दिनमा गरिने यस पुजा को फल निकै धेरै पाइन्छ ।

That is to say, I readily accept the fruits, flowers, water, etc., which are devotionally offered with a selfless spirit. In the name of Lord Krishna, we would like to sing the praises of this year's Nirjala Ekadashi, Nirjala i.e. Ekadashi without water, Ekadashi is observed with devotion by fasting without water.

अर्थात् निस्वार्थ भावनाले भक्तिपूर्वक अर्पण गरिएको फल, पुष्प, जल आदिको म केही नसोची सहजै स्वीकार गर्दछु । यिनै भगवान् श्री कृष्णको नाम लिएर यस वर्षको निर्जला एकादशीको महिमा गान अघि बढाउन चाह्यौँ, कृष्णाअर्पणम ।

The importance of Jestha Shukla Pratipada tithi is very high. On this tithi, in the Vedic period, Bhagirathi brought Ganga to earth. Before this, the holy Ganga used to flow only in the heavens, but after this, it is believed that the descent of the Ganga took place in the earth.

पौराणिक कालमा राजा भगीरथले आफ्ना साठी हजार छोराका मुक्तिका लागि तपस्या गरेर गङ्गा नदीलाई पृथ्वीमा ल्याएको दिनलाई गङ्गा दशहरा मानिन्छ । गङ्गा दशहरा पर्व हरेक वर्षको ज्येष्ठ शुक्ल दशमी तिथिमा मनाइन्छ । अनि भनिन्छ, आजकै दिन धर्तीमा गङ्गाको अवतरण भएको विश्वास गरिन्छ । आजको दिन गङ्गा नदीमा स्नान या गङ्गा जलले आफूलाई पवित्र बनाउनु अत्यन्त लाभकारी मानिन्छ ।

It is customary to take Bat sabitri fast on the no moon day of Jestha month. The relevance of this day resembles the pure and divine love story of Sabitri and Satyavan. This story is based on the love story of Sabitri and Satyavan. Sabitri, the daughter of King Ashwapati, chose Satyavan, the son of Dumatsen, Satyavan, and Dumatsen, his blind father was living in the forest.

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

I would like to take you to May 8, 1828, the day Henry Dunant was born in Geneva, Switzerland in Europe. Every year, the world commemorates, dedicates, and harmonizes the birthday of this great personality, the first winner of the Nobel Peace Prize and the founder of a global philanthropic organization such as the Red Cross, as World Red Cross Day. I would also like to introduce Henry as a writer because his book (Memory of Solferino) written in 1859 is a very touching travel memoir.

World Laughter Day is celebrated on the first Sunday of May every year. This day was first celebrated in 1998 by Dr. Madan Kataria, the founder of the Laughter Yoga movement. The aim of this day is to promote happiness and world peace through laughter.

The Sanskrit word Buddha meaning awakening or the awakened. Buddha, a great personality, teacher, philosopher, governess, and guide, completely awakened from the desires of worldly attachments. Such a great teacher who in his discourse helped to awaken people from worldly lusts and tensions by recognizing religion and law in the world rather than saying that God created the world. The Buddha, who taught to sow the seeds of truth and peace in the field of the heart, was born in 543 BC in the middle of a saline orchard in the present-day Kapilvastu district of Nepal. Today, the world has followed the Buddha's ideals.

बुद्ध शब्दको अर्थ संस्कृत शब्द बुध अर्थात् जाग्नु भन्ने हुन्छ । पूर्ण रूपमा सांसारिक मोहको पीडाबाट जागेका एक महान् व्यक्तित्व, गुरु, दार्शनिक, शिक्षक, पथ–प्रदर्शक अनि प्रवर्तक हुन्, बुद्ध । यस्ता महान् गुरु जसले आफ्ना प्रवचनमा भगवानले संसार सिर्जना गरेको भन्ने कुरा भन्दा पनि संसारमा धर्म र नियमको पहिचान गर्दै मानिसलाई सांसारिक मोह र तनावबाट ब्युँझाउन सहयोग गरे गरेका छन् तिनैलाई बुद्ध भनिन्छ ।

राजा कश्यपका हिरण्याक्ष र हिरण्यकशिपु नाम गरेका दुई छोराहरू थिए । राजा कश्यपको मृत्यु पश्चात् ठूलो छोरा हिरण्याक्ष हिरण्याक्ष राजा बन्यो, तर उनी अत्यन्त क्रूर राजा थिए । उनको पापको र क्रूरताको श्रृंखलाले सीमा नाघेपछि वाराह भगवानले उनको सर्वनाश गरी मारीदिनुभयो । जसको बदला लिन हिरण्याक्षका भाइ हिरण्यकशिपुले आराध्यदेव भगवान महादेवलाई प्रशन्न पारी वरदान लिनकालागि कठोर तपस्य गर्यो । कठोर तपस्याबाट प्रभावित भएर दर्शन दिनुभयो र वरदान के माग्छाै भनेर आज्ञा भयो ।

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

Mohini Ekadashi falls in the Shukla paksha of Baisakh month. In Sanatana mythology, Mohini is the name of the disguised form of Lord Vishnu which appeared in the form of Mohini Ekadashi. Observing this Ekadashi washes every sin committed in this life and also from previous lives, this Ekadashi delivers more results and glories as achieved by donating a thousand cows or rendering huge charity.

वैशाख महिनाको शुक्ल पक्षको एकादशीलाई मोहिनी एकादशी भनिन्छ । यो एकादशीमा भक्तिपूर्वक अर्चना गर्ने, एकादशी महत्मय सुन्ने अनि व्रत लिने गरेमा पाप मोचन हुन्छ भन्ने विश्वास छ । सांसारिक मोहबाट छुटकारा पाइन्छ मान्यताअनुरूप यो वसन्त ऋतुको एकादशीलाई मोहिनी एकादशी भनिएको हो ।

The river Ganga is considered to be the center of faith of Hindus. The importance of the Ganges is described in many scriptures, Mahabharata epic cites mother Ganga as a vital character of the sequence. Lord Shiva carries this holy river in his head and a Hindu circle of spiritual life is largely incomplete without visiting, worshiping, and taking a dip in this river.

National Chhanda Diwas is being celebrated today by programs related to the conservation of rhymes and it's usage in the poetry genre of literature. Expressing concern over the declining use of rhymer verses in poetry literature, poet Madhav Viyogi commenced national rhyme day on 20th April 1996 as a campaign of protecting rhyme (Chanda Bachau Aviyana.) Chhanda isthe Nepali and Sanskrit translation of rhyme.

Mahavir Jayanti celebrates the birth of Mahavira, a contemporary of Lord Budhha (Lived in 6 century BCE), and the final or 24th Tirthankara (great scholar and sages). Mahavira's name was Vardhamana and is considered to be the founder of Jainism but today I will try not to confine Mahavira's identity just to Jainism but to elaborate his contribution to the entire human race and mankind will be my pursuit.

अटिजम जागरूकता दिवस अटिजम स्पेक्ट्रम डिसअर्डर को बारेमा जागरूकता र समझदारी बढाउन र अटिजम भएका व्यक्तिहरूको समावेशीकरण र स्वीकृतिलाई बढावा दिन हरेक वर्ष अप्रिल २ मा मनाइने वार्षिक दिवस हो। संयुक्त राष्ट्र सङ्घको महासभाले अप्रिल २ लाई विश्व अटिजम सचेतना दिवसका रूपमा तोक्न सर्वसम्मतिले मतदान गरेपछि पहिलो पटक अटिजम जागरूकता दिवस सन् २००८ मा यो दिवस मनाइएको पाइन्छ ।

Ekadashi, which dates to the Chaitra Shukla Ekadashi (11th day of the waxing moon), is called Kamada Ekadashi. On this day, it is a religious belief to get fruits according to the wishes of people who are purely devout.

The SEE exam is being conducted from Chaitra 17th to Chaitra 29th of the year 2079. In the history of human civilization such as horses, horseback riding, horse riding knights, the cooperation between horses and human beings has been continuously explained in various documents of history and various stories about this relationship are still alive. Horses have always been and still are the classic and traditional ways of human mobility.

"Paha" means guest and "Chahre" means Chaturdashi. This day is also called "Pishach Chaturdashi". There is an ancient tradition of celebrating the Chartudashi of Chaitra Krishna Paksha with joy and excitement in Newa civilization.

"पाहाँ" भन्नाले अतिथि भनेर बुझिन्छ भने "चःह्रे" भनेको चतुर्दशीलाई भनिने गरिन्छ। आफू मात्र भोज खाने या रमाइलो गर्ने नभई सबै साथीभाइ र मित्र जनलाई बोलाएर भोज गर्ने र रमाइलो गर्ने चाड भएकाले होला यस चर्तुदशीलाई पाहुना आउने भनेर पाहाँ भनिएको हुनपर्दछ । यस दिनलाई "पिशाच चतुर्दशी" पनि भनिन्छ। चैत्र कृष्ण पक्षको चर्तुदशीलाई पाहाँचःह्रे भनेर रमाईलोका साथ मनाउने परम्परागत चलन छ ।

Every lunar month has two Pakshas and each Paksha has an Ekadashi. Thus, in the Ekadashis of Krishnapaksha and Shuklapaksha, the eternal devotees worship Hari. Shri Hari can be understood as the guardian of the universe, the creator of the universe, and the omnipresent power as the components of creation.

चन्द्र मासमा दुई पक्षहरू हुन्छन् । हरेक पक्षमा एउटा एकादशी पर्छन् । यसरी कृष्णपक्ष र शुक्ल पक्षमा पर्ने एकादशीहरूमा सनातन भक्तजनले हरिको आराधना गर्छन् । श्रीहरिलाई जगतका पालन हार, सृष्टिका सर्जक अनि सिर्जनाका अवयवहरूका रूपमा सर्वव्यापी शक्तिका रूपमा बुझ्न सकिन्छ । यी सर्व शक्तिलाई धर्म या दर्शनभन्दा पर राखेर सृष्टिको साना–साना अवयवदेखि ठुला–ठुला खटनसम्मका तत्त्वका रूपमा चिन्न जरुरी रहन्छ । पृथ्वीमा जीवहरूको अस्तित्व अनि आत्मा तत्त्वको परमात्मा तत्त्वद्वारा संरक्षण यिनै हरि रुपी शक्तिले गरिएको मानिन्छ ।

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ। शनिबारका दिन प्रदोष व्रत परेकाले शनि प्रदोष व्रत भनिएको हो ।

The practice of worshiping water has been traditionally practiced in the Majhi community. Every time before sitting in a boat or entering a reservoir with a fishing net, it is customary in this community to remember the water god. Ladi Puja is considered to be an institutional practice of this tradition and an embodiment of the highest faith.

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Do you know, if the Sunday falls on the Saptami tithi, this day is considered as Ravi Saptami, today is Sunday and the tithi is the seventh day or Saptami. On the day of such a coincidence, worship of Lord Surya Narayan, fasting, etc. is performed. Worshiping the Sun God, the revered deity of the Navagrahas and the gods, by enlightening the whole world with the radiance of His nature.

हप्ताका हरेक बारहरूले सौर्य मण्डलका कुनै न कुनै ग्रहको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्छन् । आइतबार अर्थात् सूर्यको बार, सूर्यलाई रवि पनि भनिन्छ । यस अर्थमा रवि बार परेको सप्तमीलाई रवि सप्तमी भनिन्छ । यो दिन व्रत बस्ने र उपासना गर्ने चलन हुन्छ । रवि बारको सप्तमीलाई दुर्लभ मानिन्छ ।

चन्द्र मासको चौधौँ दिन अर्थात् नयाँ चन्द्र उदाउनुपूर्वको रातलाई शिवरात्रि भनिन्छ, यस अर्थमा वर्ष दिनभरि १२ वटा शिवरात्रि रहनेमा हरेक वर्षको फाल्गुन महिनाको कृष्ण चर्तुदशीमा पर्ने शिवरात्रिको आध्यात्मिक अनि सांस्कृतिक महत्त्व अतुलनीय छ । यस रात वैज्ञानिक रूपमै पनि पृथ्वीको उत्तरी ध्रुव यस्तो तरिकाले रहन्छ कि पृथ्वीमा रहेका जीवहरूमा शक्ति अनि गुरुत्वाकर्षणको असाधारण बहाव रहन जाने प्रमाणित गरिएको छ ।

In Sanskrit, Ekadashi means the eleventh day. Let me bring the lunar manifestation of the calendar where a month is composed of two fortnights, waxing and waning moon. Each of these fortnights has one Ekadashi on their part, one is the Krishna paksha Ekadashi and another is Sukla Paksha Ekadashi. Bhagwat Geeta narrates the words of Krishna to Arjuna about the importance of these Ekadashi and their significance in the spiritual awakening and purification of souls.

In the bank of Bagmati River and under the lap of mountainous range, there lies the supreme form of Lord shiva in the holy Pashupatinath temple. The fate of Bagmati River is to integrate in Ganga and eventually to the ocean, similarly Pashupatinath manifests the ultimate energy and awakening about the life and death of mankind.

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

The Tithi of Saptami today is very important and this Saptami is known as Achala Saptami i.e. Rath Saptami and Arogya Saptami.

हिउँद ओरालो लाग्दैछ, सूर्य नारायण उत्तरायण गतिमा गइसकेका छन् । उत्तरायण सुरु भइसकेपछि सूर्यको ऊर्जा र तेज ग्रहण गर्नका लागि धेरै विधान गरिन्छ । यिनै विधिहरू गरिने तिथिहरू मध्य अचला सप्तमी अर्थात् रथ सप्तमी र आरोग्य सप्तमीको विशेष महत्त्व रहन्छ ।

Skanda, the eldest son of Lord Shiva, also known as Kumar Kartikeya. Kumar Kartikeya is worshiped on the 6th day of Skanda. Skanda Shashti is celebrated every month on the sixth day of Shukla Paksha.

Meaning: Mother Saraswati, who is as bright as the moon, adorned with a white robe, a harp in her hand, and a gift-giving crystal garland, a goddess seated on a white lotus flower, worshiped by Brahma, Vishnu, and Shiva, disintegrates our ignorance and gives us pure knowledge.

जो चन्द्रको समान उज्ज्वल हुनुहुन्छ, सेतो वस्त्र लगाएर हातमा वीणा र वरदान दिने मालासहित सुशोभित हुनुहुन्छ, सेतो कमलको फूलमा आसीन ती देवी जसको ब्रह्मा, विष्णु तथा शिव आदि सबैले उपासना गर्नुहुन्छ । उनै माता सरस्वती हाम्रा अज्ञानताहरू चिर्दै हामीलाई निर्मल विद्या दिनुहोस् ।

Everyone is welcome on the auspicious occasion of this Til Kunda Chauthi dedicated to Lord Ganesha. This Chauthi of Magh Shukla Paksha is also celebrated as Ganesh Jayanti. Holy sesame and kunda, i.e. Ganesh's beloved jasmine flower, it is customary to offer scented sesame and jasmine flowers to God on Tilkunda Chauthi.

Losar (Lo - year, sar - new) is a national holiday of tibetan buddhism celebrated in the mountainous and hilly regions of Nepal, China - our northern neighbors as well as various regions of Asia such as Malaysia, Thailand, Bhutan, India, Laos and Japan where buddhism practitioners are concentrated. It takes on different names and is celebrated by the ethnic groups that recognize it in their own individual ways, for instance, the Gurungs call it "Tola Losar" whereas the Sherpas celebrate "Gyalpo Losar".

तामाङ समुदायबारे लेखिएका विभिन्न पुस्तकहरू अनि शोधहरू अध्ययन गर्दा 'ता' भन्नाले घोडा अनि 'माङ' भन्नाले लडाकुहरू भन्ने बुझिन्छ । यस अर्थमा साहसीहरूको समुदाय तामाङहरू वास्तवमै आफ्नो साहस, वीरता अनि रण कौशलताका लागि नेपालमा मात्र नभई संसारभरि प्रचलित छन् । 'ल्होसार' शब्द 'ल्हो' अर्थात् वर्ष वा साल र 'छार' वा 'सार' अर्थात नयाँ भन्ने दुई शब्द मिलेर बनेको छ । यस दिन तामाङ समुदायले विशेष परम्परागत अनि सांस्कृतिक महत्त्वका साथ ल्होसार मनाउँदछन् ।

Magh Krishna Paksha Ekadashi is Shattila Ekadashi. Shat means six and Tila means sesame seeds, these two words together have been called for this Ekadashi. According to which sesame is used in divine bathing, sesame is coated, sesame is burnt in hawan, sesame is offered as Pinda and Tarpan, sesame is eaten and sesame is donated.

माघ कृष्ण पक्षको एकादशीलाई षट्तिला एकादशी भनिन्छ । यसलाई माघ कृष्ण एकादशी, तिला एकादशी आदि विभिन्न नामले जानिन्छ । षट् अर्थात् ६ वटा र तिल अर्थात् तिलको दाना, यी दुई शब्द मिलेर यस एकादशीको आव्हान भएको छ । जस अनुसार तिलले स्नान गर्ने, तिलको लेपन लगाउने, तिलको हवन गर्ने, तिलले पितृ तर्पण गर्ने, तिलको भोजन गर्ने र तिल दान गरिन्छ । षटतिला एकादशीको व्रत बस्नेले व्रतका क्रममा जति दाना तिलको प्रयोग गर्दछन् त्यति नै वर्ष स्वर्गमा बास हुने धार्मिक विश्वास रहेको छ ।

Bhakka, a traditional dish of the Koch Rajbanshi community, is one of the most popular dishes of Eastern Nepal, which is eaten more especially in winter. In recent times, the practice of eating bhakka has become widespread as everyone prefers having it. After the custom of eating bakka, which is limited only to the royal caste, became popular among all castes, it is celebrated on 29th of Poush to celebrate Bhakka Day with promotional programs.

Today, January 5, is the birth anniversary of the tenth Guru of the Sikhs, Guru Govind Singh. Guru Govind Singh, a great warrior, poet, devotee, and spiritual leader, became the tenth Guru of the Sikhs after the death of his father Guru Tegh Bahadur on 11 November 1675. Guru Govind Singh has conveyed the message of love, unity, and brotherhood throughout his life.

सिखहरूको दसौँ गुरु "गुरु गोविन्द सिंह"को आज ५ जनवरीको दिन जन्म जयन्ती हो। एक महान् योद्धा, कवि, भक्त र आध्यात्मिक नेता गुरु गोविन्द सिंह, ११ नोभेम्बर १६७५ मा आफ्नो बुबा गुरु तेघबहादुरको मृत्यु पछि सिखहरूको दसौँ गुरु हुनुभयो। आफ्नो जीवनभर सबैलाई प्रेम, एकता र भ्रातृत्वको सन्देश दिनुभएको गुरु गोविन्द सिंह निक्कै शान्त व्यक्तित्व हुनुहुन्थ्यो।

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

This Ekadashi has three names, Pavitropana and Pavitra Ekadashi, this has its significance among the chain of 52 Ekadashis across the year.

पौष शुक्ल पक्षमा पर्ने एकादशीलाई पनि पुत्रदा एकादशी भनिन्छ । श्रावण र पौष दुवै महिनाको शुक्ल पक्षमा यस एकादशी पर्दछ । पद्म पुराण अनुसार सांसारिक सुख समृद्धि तथा पुत्र प्राप्तिका लागि पुत्रदा एकादशीको व्रत बस्ने गरिन्छ । सन्तान नभएका सबैले पुत्रदा एकादशीको व्रत लिनु फलदायी हुने धार्मिक विश्वास रहेको छ ।

Tamu refers to the Gurung community, while Lhosar refers to the new year. Today is the new year for the Gurung community.

तमु भन्नाले गुरुङ्ग समुदायलाई चिनाउँदछ भने ल्होसार भन्नाले नयाँ वर्ष भन्ने अर्थ लाग्दछ । शाब्दिक रुपमै प्रष्ट छ, आज गुरुङ्ग समूदायको नयाँ वर्ष हो । चाईनीज ज्योतिषशास्त्र र पात्रो अनुसार बर्षमा १२ महिना हुन्छन् र हरेक महिनाहरु जनावरको आधारमा नामांकृत हुन्छन् । तिव्वति बोद्धार्गी अनि तिव्बतो बर्मेली समुदायमा ३ बर्षभरि प्रकारको ल्होसार मनाउने चलन छ ।

नयाँ वर्ष २०२३ को शुभकामना । सन् २०२२ लाई बिदाइ र सन् २०२३ लाई स्वागत गरिदैछ । जीवनलाई अनुभव र सम्झनाको झोलाको रूपमा लिन सकिन्छ, हरेक वर्ष नयाँ अनुभव थपिन्छ र पुरानो वर्ष बित्छ र नयाँ वर्ष आउँछ ।

आज भव्यताका साथ इसाई धर्मका अनुयायीहरू सौहार्द्यता तथा खुसीयालीको चाड क्रिसमस मनाउँदै छन् । सम्भवतः संसारभरि धेरै देशहरूमा एकै दिन अर्थात् आजैको दिन चारैतिर सार्वजनिक बिदा हुने गर्दछ । विदेश तिर धेरैजसो ठाउँमा जाडोको सिरेटोले आफ्नो गति बढाइसकेको हुनुपर्छ ।

It is the oldest of the three Lhosars. Tol Lhosar is considered to be the origin of other Lhosars and Tol Lhosar has its philosophy and significance. Tol means time or cycle of time and mobility.

३ वटा ल्होसारहरु मध्य यो प्राचिनतम ल्होसार हो । तोल ल्होसार नै अन्य ल्होसारहरुको उद्गम मानिन्छ र तोल ल्होसारको आफ्नै दर्शन र महत्व भएको पाइन्छ । तोलको अर्थ हो समय या समयको चक्र र चलायमानता । देवताको विजय र दैत्यहरुको पराजयको कामना सहित तोल ल्होसारको बिसं २०७८ को संस्मरणमा पनि अन्य वर्षहरु झैं पुजा अर्चना गरिन्छ ।

The lunar month has 30 days in a month and Aunshi falls almost in the middle of these 30 days. The spiritual and supernatural significance of the aunshi, which is taken as the reflection of dark and opaque things, is different and very important. Throughout the lunar month between the full moon "Poornima" and the "Aunshi", the moon is sometimes visible and sometimes not visible between the clouds in the sky.

एक मास अर्थात् महिना पनि मान्न सकिन्छ । चन्द्रमानमा एक मास भित्र ३० दिनहरू हुन्छन् अनि यी ३० दिनाकंको लगभग मध्य भागमा औँसी पर्दछ । अँध्यारो र कालो कुराहरूको बिम्बका रूपमा लिइने औँसीको आध्यात्मिक र अलौकिक महत्त्व भनेँ पृथक् छ ।

Safala is a feminine connotation to the word Safal. The boon of this Ekadashi is directly linked to the gravity of success and prosperity.

Dhanu Sakranti or Dhanu Sankraman is the first day of Poush month. Dhanu Sakranti occurs when the sun crosses over to the zodiac sign Sagittarius which is known as the Dhanu Rashi. In a Hindu calendar year, the sun crosses over to different zodiac signs a total of twelve times.

हरेक वर्षको नोभेम्बर १० तारिखमा विश्वभरि, शान्ति र विकासका लागि विश्व विज्ञान दिवस मनाइने गरिन्छ। समाजमा विज्ञानको महत्त्वपूर्ण भूमिका र उभिरहेको वैज्ञानिक मुद्दाहरूको बहसहरूमा व्यापक जनता संलग्न गरी विज्ञानले हाम्रो दैनिक जीवनमा यसको महत्त्व र प्रासङ्गिकतालाई कसरी प्रभाव पार्दछ भनी बुझ्नको लागि संयुक्त राष्ट्र सङ्घले यो दिवस मनाउन सुरु गरेको हो।

हरेक वर्षको नोभेम्बर ९ तारिखका दिन संयुक्त राज्य अमेरिकामा विश्व स्वतन्त्रता दिवस मनाइने गर्दछ । अमेरिकाका पूर्व राष्ट्रपती जर्ज डब्ल्यु बुशले जर्मनीको वर्लिनमा रहेको पूर्वी र पश्चिमी वर्लिनलाई विभाजन गर्ने पर्खाललाई फुटाएको र मध्य र पूर्वी युरोपमा कम्युनिस्ट शासनको औपचारिक अन्त्य भएको उपलक्ष्यमा सोही दिन अर्थात् नोभेम्बर ९ तारिखका दिन विश्व स्वतन्त्रता दिवसको घोषणा गरेका हुन् ।

Generally, the lunar eclipse occurs on the day of the full moon. This lunar eclipse is the second of this year, but this is the first lunar eclipse of this year as a lunar eclipse that can be seen from Nepal.

विसं २०७९ साल कार्तिक २२ गते पूर्णिमाको दिन पर्न गएको चन्द्र ग्रहण र यस ग्रहणको विषयमा केही कुरा गरौँ । सामान्यतया चन्द्र ग्रहण पूर्णिमाकै दिनमा पर्ने गर्दछ ।यो चन्द्र ग्रहण यस वर्षको दोस्रो हो तर नेपालबाट देख्न सकिने चन्द्र ग्रहणका रूपमा यस वर्षको यो पहिलो चन्द्र ग्रहण हो ।

It is customary to worship Baikunthadhipati Lord Vishnu on the day of Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi. It is believed that Lord Vishnu hands over the burden of creation to Lord Shankar for one Chaturmas on Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi. During these four months, only Shiva runs the universe. It is believed that after sleeping for four months Lord Vishnu will wake up on Deuthani Ekadashi and Lord Shankar will once again hand over the burden of creation to Lord Vishnu.

कार्तिक शुक्ल चर्तुदशीका दिन बैकुण्ठाधिपति भगवान् विष्णुको पूजा गर्ने चलन छ । कार्तिक शुक्ल चतुर्दशी मा एक चतुर्मासका लागि भगवान् विष्णुले सृष्टिको भार भगवान् शङ्करलाई सुम्पिनुहुन्छ भन्ने मान्यता छ ।

According to the scriptures, a person who worships Lord Vishnu with thousands of lotus flowers and worships Lord Shiva gets liberation from all his bonds and attains Vaikuntha Lok. It is customary to observe this fast on Kartik Shukla Chaturdashi.

शास्त्रअनुसार हजारौँ कमलका फुलहरूले भगवान् विष्णुको पूजा गरेर शिव जी को अर्चना गर्ने मनुष्यले आफ्ना सबै बन्धनहरू बाट मुक्ति पाएर वैकुण्ठ लोक प्राप्त गर्दछ । कार्तिक शुक्ल चर्तुदशीमा यस व्रत गर्ने चलन छ ।

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ।

It is believed that Lord Vishnu, who has been fast asleep since Harishyani Ekadashi, wakes up today. Haribodhini Ekadashi is an important Ekadashi, this Ekadashi is also called the biggest Ekadashi or Thuli Ekadashi, because of its glory. This Ekadashi shares an intrinsic attachment with the Tulsi plant.

हरिबोधिनी एकादशीलाई एकादशीहरूमा सबैभन्दा ठुलो एकादशीका रूपमा लिइन्छ । त्यसैले पनि जनजिब्रोमा यो एकादशीलाई ठुली एकादशी भन्ने पनि छ । यसको महिमाका कारण पनि यसलाई ठुलो एकादशी भनिएको हो ।

Today's ninth day of Kartik Shukla Paksha, today's special day Kushmand Navami is known as Akshay Navami, Amla Navami, and Dhatri Navami. Today the amla tree is worshiped. There is a religious belief that Lord Vishnu resides on the Amla tree from Kartik Shukla Navami to Kartik Purnima.

The first day of the month is called Sankranti and the end of the month is called Masanta. Today Libra Sankranti i.e. Sun is entering Libra from Virgo. There are 12 solstices in a year and on the day of solstice the Sun enters from one zodiac sign to another. Today's solstice is also important because the time of day and night are the same on this day.

Mainly the Tika of Dashami day is considered special. Keeping in mind the context where it is not possible to wear tika on the day of Dashami itself because of the traveling distance, the tradition of tika and jamra till the Poorima has been established.

मुख्यतया दशमीका दिनको टिकालाई विशेष मानिन्छ । तर परपर भएका माइती मावलीहरूमा दशमीका दिन नै टिका भ्याउन नसक्ने परिवेशलाई ध्यानमा राखेर पूर्णिमाका दिनसम्म टिका र जमरा लगाइदिने चलन स्थापना भएको हो ।

From today, Dashain has officially come to an end. The 15 days from Dashain Pratipada to today's full moon is also called Durgapaksha. Today, on the Kojagrat full moon, the full moon will rise in the sky at night and the auspicious lights (Mahadeep Jyoti) will be lit at night in the temples including Swayambhu in Kathmandu. Kojagrat Purnima is also the day of Pratipada, the day when the soil deposited in Ghatsthapana and the collected jamaras are duly disposed of in a river or reservoir.

आज कोजाग्रत पूर्णिमा, आकाशमा राती पूर्णचन्द्र उदाउनेछ र काठमाडौँको स्वयम्भू लगायतका चैत्यहरूमा राती महादीप ज्योति प्रज्वलन गरिनेछ । प्रतिपदाको दिन, घटस्थापनामा जम्मा गरेको माटाहरू र उमारेका जमराहरूलाई विधिपूर्वक कुनै नदी या जलाशयमा सेलाउने दिन पनि कोजाग्रत पूर्णिमाकै दिन हो ।

The 11th day of the Hindu date is called Ekadashi, Ekadashi i.e. the eleventh day it is customary to fast on this date, eat only fruits and listen to the story of Ekadashi Mahatmaya.

Today is the ninth day of Navratri, today is the day of special worship of Mother Siddhidhatri as the ninth power of Goddess Durga and along with her worship of Goddess Mahalakshmi. Today, on Maha-Ashtami, the eighth day of Navratri, the nine forms of Goddess Durga - Shailaputri, Bramhacharini, Chandraghanta, Kushmanda, Skandamata, Katyayani, Kalratri, Mahagauri, and Siddhidatri - are worshiped.

नौरथाको मेला अनि दुर्गा भवानीका शक्ति पीठहरूमा भिडभाड, कसैलाई मिठाई किन्न हतारो हुन सक्छ त कसैलाई मासु ? कसैलाई पलेँटी कसेर तास खेल्ने तिर्सना होला त कसैलाई साथीभाइसँग भेटघाटको तिर्सना । जे होस्, यस वर्षको दसैँको अष्टमीको शुभ दिन अनि शुभ–साइतको शुभकामना ।

This special day of Saptami is called Phoolpati. On this day, special worship of Goddess Durga's Kalratri form is performed. Black-skinned, black-eyed, with three eyes and four arms, holding a sword, a Masal-bearing ghurmudra, and an Abhay mudra in all four hands respectively. This Goddess killed a demon named "RaktaBeej" which was so powerful that he regained life from every drop of drops of blood falling into the soil.

औँला भाँच्दै एक वर्षको प्रतीक्षा अब पूरा हुँदै छ । घटस्थापनासँगै दसैँ घर–घरमा प्रवेश गरेको छ । यो दसैँ अलिक फरक छ, कोभिडको त्रासले गर्दा पछिल्ला वर्षका दसैँहरू न्यूनतम मानवीय चहलपहलमा गुजारिए भने यो दसैँ चाहिँ अलिक खुकुलो र सामान्य अवस्थातर्फ उन्मुख हुँदै गरेको मान्न सकिन्छ ।

These 16 days is the homage fortnight to ancestors, ancestors mean Pitri in Sanskrit so these days are called Pitri Parksha. Ancestors (Pitri) are taken as the center of God and the ancestral homage (Pitrikarma) is taken as the center of the eternal rites.

१६ दिनको पितृ पक्षको समापन भएको छ । आजको दिनलाई सर्व पितृ औँसी पनि भनिन्छ । यसरी पूर्णिमाबाट सुरु भएको पितृ पक्ष ठ्याक्कै औँसीमा आएर समापन हुन्छ । १६ दिनको पितृ पक्षमा आफ्नो पितृको मृत्यु तिथिमा पारी हिन्दु धर्मावलम्बीहरूले पितृ कर्म अर्थात् श्राद्ध गरिसकेका छन् ।

The proposal for the Day came from the World Federation of the Deaf (WFD), a federation of 135 national associations of deaf people, representing approximately 70 million deaf people’s human rights worldwide. The resolution A/RES/72/161 was sponsored by the Permanent Mission of Antigua and Barbuda to the United Nations, co-sponsored by 97 United Nations Member States and adopted by consensus on 19 December 2017.

The eleventh day of the calendar is called Ekadashi. After the full moon and after the new moon, Ekadashi comes twice a month. The Ekadashi after the full moon is called Krishna Paksha Ekadashi and the Ekadashi after Aunsi is called Shukla Paksha Ekadashi.

For the first time in the history of the country, the 65-years of aspiration of the people to make a constitution through the elected representatives of the people has come true. This was on the 2072 BS Asoj 3, Nepal's first President Ram Baran Yadav signed and approved the "Constitution of Nepal 2072".

Jivit Putrika' in Sanskrit, Jiyatiya in Hindi, and Terai Madhesi women in Nepal observe 'Jitiya' as an exciting festival celebrated for the happiness, joy, and progress of their children and it is celebrated as Jivit Putra Parva. Jivit means living and Putra means son or a generic connotation for children, be it son or daughter. Putra means son but not confined to male connotation, in general, Putra resembles to the reliable and responsible children, Jitiya is a celebration of wrata anticipating a responsible son and daughter and their wellbeing.

संस्कृतमा ‘जीवित पुत्रीका’, हिन्दीमा जियतिया र नेपालमा तराईबासी मधेशी महिलाहरू ‘जितिया’लाई आफ्नो सन्तानको सुख, आनन्द र प्रगतिका निमित्त मनाइने एउटा उत्साहजनक चाडका रूपमा लिन्छन् । यसलाई जीवित पुत्र पर्वको रूपमा मनाइन्छ । यो पर्व अश्विनको अष्टमी तिथिको कृष्ण पक्षको दिन मनाइन्छ । यो पर्व खासगरी आमाहरूले आफ्नो जीवित पुत्रहरूका लागि व्रत बस्ने गर्छन् । महिलाहरू ‘निर्जला’ अर्थात् पानी समेत सेवन नगरीकन २४ घण्टासम्म भगवान ‘जीतमहान गोँसाई’को पूजाआजा गरी कठोर व्रत बस्ने परम्परा रहिआएको छ ।

Vishwakarma Pooja is celebrated on the 1st of Asoj, i.e. in the form of worship of Baba Vishwakarma, a scholar of construction and technology production and study. Today, the followers of Vedic Sanatan Hindu religion worship in honor of Baba Vishwakarma in this Vishwakarma Pooja.

The 16-day Pitri Paksha has a big role to play in the beginning of the Dashain, 16 days of Pitri Paksha started from today. These 16 days are the homage fortnight to ancestors, ancestor means Pitri in Sanskrit so these days are called Pitri Parksha.

दसैँको सुरुवातमा १६ दिनको पितृ पक्षको ठुलो भूमिका छ, आजबाट यो पितृ पक्ष प्रारम्भ भयो । पितृ कर्मलाई सनातन संस्कारको केन्द्रबिन्दुका रूपमा लिइएको छ, सात पुस्ता सम्मलाई पितृ तर्पण दिने चलनले त झन् पितृ कर्मको महत्त्व तथा आफ्ना बाबु, बाजेलगायतका एउटा ठुलो कालखण्डप्रति वर्तमान पुस्ताको समर्पण भावको अद्भुत नमुना हो १६ श्राद्ध र यसले वैदिक सनातन संस्कारको उँचाइ र महत्त्वलाई थप स्पष्ट पार्छ ।

Chonam festival is a special festival of the Chepang caste, a warrior caste of the Tibetan Varman community living around the Mahabharata mountain range. Very close to nature, agrarian and very friendly, the Chepangs are very famous for their open, fun and nomadic lifestyle. This community living in 44 districts including Tanahun, Gorkha, Chitwan and Dhading around 3000 meters near the forest edge and river has not been touched by the wave of urbanization, development and awareness. Their main religion is 'Bon' i.e. nature worship.

Kathmandu is a city of history precisely a prehistoric city, the origin of the holy Pashupatinath region of Devadeva Mahadev is not mentioned in any scriptures or history copperplate or inscription, but the tolerance, culture, civilization and cultural heritage of this city has become an invaluable ancient asset to the world today.

काठमाडौँ एउटा इतिहासै इतिहासको सहर हो, देवाधिदेव महादेवको पवित्र पाशुपत क्षेत्रको इतिहास कुनै काव्य या इतिहासका ताम्र पत्र या शिलालेखमा उल्लेख छैन तथापि यस सहर बासीको सहिष्णुता, संस्कार, सभ्यता अनि सांस्कृतिक धरोहरहरू आज विश्व कालागि नै एउटा अनमोल प्राचीन सम्पत्ति भएको छ ।

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ ।
