Lord Vishnu is one of the three members of the Hindu trinity, Brahma, Vishnu, and Maheshwar. Lord Maheshwar, also known as Lord Shiva, is renowned as the destroyer, whereas Lord Vishnu is known as the preserver or defender of the entire universe. Of these three triumvirates of gods, Lord Brahma is thought to have created the cosmos.
Hindus believe that Lord Vishnu often appeared as a human being on earth in order to restore the proper balance between good and evil. According to legend, Lord Vishnu has assumed human form approximately 25 times, with Lord Kalki serving as his final and only incarnation.Kalki is the tenth manifestation of Sri Har or Lord Vishnu. The tenth and last incarnation of Lord Vishnu "Kalki Avatar" is a religious belief that this Avatar will be born on this day.
Today (Shravan Shukla Panchami) i.e. Kalki Jayanti reminds us that this last incarnation of Lord Vishnu is about to be born. It is mentioned in the religious texts that after the beginning of iniquity in Kali Yuga, Kalki incarnation shall be born and destroy all sinners and once again restored the human world to the path of religion and righteousness. This incarnation of Lord Vishnu has 64 crafts. According to the Puranas, this incarnation of Lord Vishnu will be born as a son in the house of an ascetic Brahmin and will destroy sinners in the world by riding a horse named Devadatta.
What is done today?
Devotees wake up early, bath and recite Bishnu Sahastranam. They then prepare an idol of "Kalki" and instate "Asanas". After offering a panchamrit snan and recitation of "Beej Mantra" charities and donations are offered.
