Who is Swami Shashidhar?
Today is the birth anniversary of Swami Shashidhar, who was born in Bamruk village of Arghakhanchi district. Swami Sashidhar's father's name was Dishai Sharma Marasini. Swami Sashidhar, who was considered a saint in the early nineteenth century, was not only a sadhu, he also wrote many books during his lifetime. Almost all the books written by him are in the Sanskrit language.
Swami Shashidh Brahmin was initiated into the Vishnu Swami Sampradaya by the education he received in his childhood; he became Muni after acquiring some education while establishing Kyon Kaleshwar Math in Paudi Garhwal.
It is said that Swami Shashidhar gave education to King Ran Bahadur Shah as well as Bhimsen Thapa's brother, Ranveer Singh Thapa.
Josmani sect
In the 18th century, Sashidhar Swami did penance in Resunga and attained siddhi as the founder of the Josmani sect. He has followers in places like the Koshi region of Nepal and Garhwal, Sikkim, Darjeeling, and Burma in India.
In the 18th century, Swami Shashidhar expressed that idol worship and animal sacrifice were not important. His several anecdotes and teachings are still revered today. Best wishes to all on the occasion of Swami Sashidhar's birth anniversary.
