Gopashtami
Gopastami falls on Kartik Shukla Ashtami. This Tithi is associated with the security of Gaumata, the mother cow. Names like Gwala, Gopal, and Gobind have come to prominence due to the love and care of Gaumata. Even Krishna's favorite name is Gobinda, in this context Gopasthami's relevance is connected.
On the seventh day of Kartik Shukla, Lord Krishna held the Gorvadhan Mountain for the protection of Cow, caretakers (Gwala and Gopinis).
And on the eighth day, that is, on the Ashtami Tithi, Indra himself came down from heaven to meet Lord Krishna abandoning his ego. Since Kamadhenu anointed Lord Krishna as Krishna raised the mountain for the protection of cows, Lord Krishna's name remained Govinda from that day.
Gopasthami, which has been celebrated since that day of Dwaparyug, is still being celebrated to this day.
Today, it is customary to greet cows and to serve cows as human beings. Donations to Gaushala and Gaumatas today give positive energy to life, best wishes to all on this year's Gopasthami Tithi. It's getting colder, take care of yourself.
