The origins of NGO Day
World NGO Day is a recognized international holiday that takes place on February 27 every year. World NGO Day seeks to promote a stronger synergy between NGOs and the public and business sectors by encouraging individuals to get more actively involved in NGOs (Charities, NPOs, CSOs). Celebrate, Commemorate, and Collaborate with the many NGOs throughout the world and the people who support them is the overarching theme of World NGO Day.
NGOs in Nepal
The registration and regulation of non-governmental organizations and international non-governmental organizations working in Nepal is being done by the Social Welfare Council. Under the Social Welfare Act 2049, organizations that want to help in social welfare and development work are working with the approval of this council.
Similarly, there are 230 international non-governmental organizations (INGOs) that have permission to work in various fields. The largest number of INGOs are run by countries such as America, Britain, Germany, Japan, Italy, and Switzerland and others.
After 2049 and 2050 B.S, the number of NGO and INGO registrations in Nepal is very high. In a developing country like Nepal, non-governmental organizations play an important role.
Theme 2024
The theme for World NGO Day 2024 is “Building a Sustainable Future: The Role of NGOs in Achieving the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs)”.
Apart from that, today is also a day to remember all those volunteers, members and supporters for their contribution to the society. There are many people who have dedicated themselves in one way or another to make the work and projects of these NGOs successful. Today we should all remember and honor those selfless helpers once upon a time. The respect we give to those people will encourage other people to collaborate with such NGOs.
Utmost wishes of this day।
