Human trafficking is a crime that forces women, children, and many men to engage in wrongdoing, such as labor and sex. The definition of confining trafficking in women, girls, sex workers, or entertainment is simply obsolete, trafficking has several dimensions and dynamics in today's world. The trend of human trafficking is changing. Any form of exploitation, domestic work, mutilation, prostitution, or any other form of sexual exploitation through the use of threats, coercion, and deception against the will of any person is human trafficking.

राधाष्टमी सनातन हिन्दुहरूको पवित्र दिन हो । कृष्ण प्रिया राधाजीको जन्म भाद्र पद शुक्ल पक्षको आठौँ दिन भएको थियो । त्यसैले यो दिनलाई राधाष्टमीका रूपमा मनाउने गरिन्छ । भूमिबाट श्री राधाजी वृष भानुको यज्ञ अग्नि प्रकट भएको थियो र यसै कारण पनि श्री राधालाई लक्ष्मीको अवतार मानिन्छ। राधा भगवान् कृष्णको सबैभन्दा प्रिय थिइन् । श्री राधाको आराधना नगरी भगवान् कृष्णको पूजा अधुरो मानिन्छ ।

Vamana Jayanti is celebrated to commemorate the incarnation day of Lord Vishnu as Vamana. Vamana Jayanti is celebrated on the Dwadashi date of Bhadrapad Shukla Paksha. According to the Bhagavata Purana, Vamana was the fifth incarnation of Lord Vishnu out of the Dashavatara and the first incarnation in the Treta Yuga.

भाद्र शुल्क पक्षको द्वादशीलाई वामन द्वादशी या वामन जयन्ती भन्ने गरिन्छ। धार्मिक ग्रन्थ अनुसार आजको शुभ तिथिमा भगवान् श्रीकृष्णले वामन अवतार लिनुभएको थियो। धर्तीमा अन्याय र अत्याचार बढ्दै गएपछि, भगवानले कुनै न कुनै अवतारमा आएर त्यो अत्याचार गर्ने सैतानको विनाश गरेको धेरै कथाहरू हामीले सुनेका छौ। भगवान् विष्णुले अरू अवतार जस्तै वामन अवतार पनि यस्तै शैतानी शक्तिको विनाश गर्न लिनुभएको थियो।

It is believed that fasting on Haripariwartini Ekadashi will bring the results equivalent of performing supreme Vajpayee Yajna. Today (Bhadra Shukla Panchami) is Rishi Panchami, a special day for women to worship the seven sages (Saptarishis). The history of Rishi Panchami is thousands of years old and just as old is the history of the importance given to women's sexual and reproductive health and rights by Vedic Sanatan rituals. It is customary for women to compare the days of menstruation according to the four goddesses: Chandalani on the first day, Brahmadhatini on the second day, Dhobini on the third day and purification by bathing on the fourth day.

ऋषि पञ्चमीको इतिहास हजारौँ वर्ष पुरानो छ र त्यतिकै पुरानो छ वैदिक सनातन संस्कारले नारीहरूको यौन तथा प्रजनन स्वास्थ्य र अधिकारलाई दिएको महत्त्वको इतिहास । नारीलाई रजस्वलाको दिनहरूलाई चार वटा देवीहरू अनुरूप तुलना गर्ने चलन छ: प्रथम दिन चण्डालिनी, दोस्रो दिन ब्रह्मधातिनी, तेस्रो दिन धोबिनी र चौथो दिन स्नान गरी शुद्ध हुने चलन छ ।

On the day of Bhadra Shukla Tritiya, Hindu women celebrate Teej with pomp and fanfare by worshiping Lord Shiva, fasting, and dancing. Ganesh Chaturthi and Rishi Panchami are also considered part of Tija. For the protection of husband and family, the women who are fasting today feel as if God himself descends on the earth for unwavering good fortune and eternal fullness.

भाद्र शुक्ल तृतीयाको दिन हिन्दु महिलाहरूले भगवान् शिवको पूजा आराधना गरी व्रत बस्नुका साथै नाचगान गरेर धूमधामसँग तीज मनाउँछन् । गणेश चतुर्थी र ऋषि पञ्चमी पनि तीजकै अङ्गको रूपमा लिइन्छ । पति अनि परिवारको रक्षार्थ आज व्रत बसेका नारीहरूको अटल सौभाग्य र सदासर्वदा भरिभराऊ, कोखका लागि भगवान् स्वयं धर्तीमा झर्छन् जस्तो भान हुन्छ ।

Meaning fast or strong, the word Dar is the word that comes to most of our festival eves. When there was a provision to eat only after fasting or performing puja on the next day, it was a custom to eat a solid meal at night and go to bed as late as possible. This trend is popular as "Dar" these days.

शाब्दिक रूपमा दरो या बलियो भन्ने बुझिने दर शब्द हाम्रो अधिकांश चाडपर्वको पूर्व सन्ध्यामा आउने शब्द हो । भोलीपल्टको दिन व्रत या पुजा अर्चना गरेर मात्र खान पाउने प्रावधान भएको अवस्थामा राती अडिलो खाना खाएर सुत्ने, सकेसम्म ढिलो खाना खाएर सुत्ने चलन थियो । यही चलन अहिले आएर दर भएको हो ।

Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

प्रदोष भनेको के हो ? त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ ।

Two days after Krishna Janaasthami, Aja Ekadashi falls every year. Aja Ekadashi is also known and addresses as Kamika Ekadashi and Anand Ekadashi however, Aja is more popular. In this month of Shrawan, auspicious Aja Ekadashi is entirely dedicated to Lord Vishnu and goddesses Laxmi.

जनै वा यज्ञोपवीत को महत्त्व ब्राह्मण र क्षत्रिय पुरुषहरूले हिन्दु परम्परा अनुसार यज्ञोपवीत अर्थात जनै लगाउने चलन रही आएको छ । बाल्यकाल पश्चात् विधिपूर्वक व्रतबन्ध कर्म सम्पन्न गरी गुरु-पुरोहितद्वारा अरूले नसुन्ने गरी कानमा गायत्री मन्त्रको उच्चारण गरेपछि एउटा निष्ठामय धर्म र सत्यको बाटो अवलम्बन गर्ने दृढ सङ्कल्प लिएर देब्रे काँधमाथि पर्ने गरी दाहिने हातको मुन्तिर पारेर गुरु पुरोहितले मन्त्रेर तयार पारेको जनै ग्रहण गरिन्छ ।

The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped. Special worship to Lord Vishnu is done in the form of Satya Narayan Puja. Satya Narayan Puja is usually performed whenever possible, although the fruits of this puja performed on the day of the full moon are very abundant.

पूर्णिमाको महत्व शुक्ल पक्षको अन्तिम दिन पूर्णिमा हो । यस तिथीमा चन्द्रमा सर्वाधिक चम्किलो र तेजिलो रुपमा रहेको हुन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्नाले चन्द्रमाको असिम कृपा प्राप्त हुने र स्वास्थ, समृद्धि र शान्ति प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ । पूर्णिमाको दिन विशेषगरि भगवान शिव र विष्णुको आराधना गरिन्छ । भगवान विष्णुलाई गरिने विशेष अर्चनालाई सत्य नारायण पुजाको स्वरुपमा गरिन्छ । सामान्यतया सत्य नारायण पुजा जहिले गरे पनि हुने कार्य हो यद्धपि पूर्णिमाको दिनमा गरिने यस पुजाको फल निकै धेरै पाइन्छ ।

विश्व हेपाटाइटिस दिवसको पृष्ठभूमि हरेक वर्ष जुलाई २८ तारिखको दिनलाई विश्व हेपाटाइटिसविरुद्ध जनचेतना फैलाउने दिवसका रूपमा लिइन्छ । भाइरल हेपाटाइटिसको जोखिम कम गर्दै विश्वलाई स्वस्थ बनाउने अभियानमा विश्वभरका मानिसहरू एक जुट हुने दिन हो, आज । खतरनाक स्वास्थ्य समस्या मानिएको ‘हेपाटाइटिस’ आधुनिक युगमा पनि उत्तिकै विकराल रूपमा देखापरि रहेको छ ।

This Chaturdashi is also considered a metal day. The significance of this Chartudashi is very different and practical among the Chartudashis of the year. प्रदोष भनेको के हो ? त्रयोदशीलाई प्रदोष भनिन्छ । एकादशीमा विष्णुलाई स्मरण गरिन्छ भने प्रदोषमा शिवको स्मरण गरिन्छ । प्रदोष काल सूर्यास्त हुनुभन्दा ४५ मिनेट अगाडि सुरु हुन्छ र सूर्यास्तको ४५ मिनेटपछि समाप्त हुन्छ। प्रदोष कथा चन्द्रमाको क्षय हुने रोग अर्थात् चन्द्रमाको प्रभाव कम हुँदै जाने अवस्थामा भगवान् शिवले त्रयोदशीका दिन चन्द्रमाको रोग निवारण गरिदिनुभएको शास्त्रमा उल्लेख छ । यस कारणले हरेक महिनाको त्रयोदशीमा भगवान् शिवको स्मरण गर्दै प्रदोष व्रत लिइन्छ।

कामिका एकादशीको महामात्य श्रीकृष्णका शब्दमा आज ब्रह्मा विवर्त पुराणका पानाहरू पल्टाउन चाहन्छौँ यस वर्षको श्रावण कृष्ण एकादशी अर्थात् कामिका एकादशीको पावन अवसरमा । जजसले यस एकादशीको व्रत कथा भक्तिका साथ श्रवण गर्दछ उसले वैकुण्ठ प्राप्त गर्दछ भनी एकादशी महापुराणमा लेखिएको छ ।

रवि सप्तमी के हो ? हप्ताका हरेक बारहरूले सौर्य मण्डलका कुनै न कुनै ग्रहको प्रतिनिधित्व गर्छन् । आइतबार अर्थात् सूर्यको बार, सूर्यलाई रवि पनि भनिन्छ । यस अर्थमा रवि बार परेको सप्तमीलाई रवि सप्तमी भनिन्छ । यो दिन व्रत बस्ने र उपासना गर्ने चलन हुन्छ । रवि बारको सप्तमीलाई दुर्लभ मानिन्छ ।

पौष शुक्ल पक्षमा पर्ने एकादशीलाई पनि पुत्रदा एकादशी भनिन्छ । श्रावण र पौष दुवै महिनाको शुक्ल पक्षमा यस एकादशी पर्दछ । पद्म पुराण अनुसार सांसारिक सुख समृद्धि तथा पुत्र प्राप्तिका लागि पुत्रदा एकादशीको व्रत बस्ने गरिन्छ । सन्तान नभएका सबैले पुत्रदा एकादशीको व्रत लिनु फलदायी हुने धार्मिक विश्वास रहेको छ ।

This Ekadashi has three names, Pavitropana and Pavitra Ekadashi, this has its significance among the chain of 52 Ekadashis across the year.

एक मास अर्थात् महिना पनि मान्न सकिन्छ । चन्द्रमानमा एक मास भित्र ३० दिनहरू हुन्छन् अनि यी ३० दिनाकंको लगभग मध्य भागमा औँसी पर्दछ । अँध्यारो र कालो कुराहरूको बिम्बका रूपमा लिइने औँसीको आध्यात्मिक र अलौकिक महत्त्व भनेँ पृथक् छ ।

हिँउदको वेलामा विहान पत्तो नपाईकनै काममा जाने वेला भईसक्छ, सिरक अत्यन्त प्यारो हुनेगर्दछ भने घामको महत्व ज्यादै हुन्छ । आजको दिन नेपालमा सार्वजनिक विदा हो , विहान उठ्न उत्ति हतारो नहुन सक्छ तर फेरि आज माघे सक्रान्तीको तैयारी पनि त गर्नु छ , कि कसो ?

यस वर्षमा जति राष्ट्रियता एकताको खाँचो त अन्य कुनै पनि वर्षमा नेपाली भुगोल र राजनैतिक परिवृतिलाई थिएन होला । आजको दिनको यस बिशेष आलेख म यसवर्षको विषमता र अपर्याप्त राष्ट्रिय एकतावाटै गर्ने जमर्को गर्छु ।

सिखहरूको दसौं गुरु गुरु गोबिन्द सिंहूको आज ५ जनवरीको दिन जन्म जयन्ति हो। सन् १६६६ मा वहाँको जन्म भारतको पटनामा भएको हो ।

Tamu refers to the Gurung community, while Lhosar refers to the new year. Today is the new year for the Gurung community.

सिख धर्मावलम्बीहरुका पहिलो गुरु नानकको आज जन्मदिन हो । गुरु नानकको जन्मदिन भएकाले आजको दिनलाई गुरु नानक प्रकाशोत्सव वा गुरु पर्व पनि भनिन्छ । संसारभरका सिख धर्मालम्बीहरुले आजको दिन गुरु नानकको सम्झनामा श्रद्धाका साथ मनाउने गर्छन् ।

The last day of Shukla Paksha is the full moon day. Today is the Kartik Poornima, a poornima which officially concludes the convoy of festivals. On this tithi, the moon is the brightest and magnificent. It is believed that fasting on this day brings immense lunar grace to health, prosperity, and peace. On the full moon day, Lord Shiva and Vishnu are especially worshiped.

निर्दोष आँखा, हैरान पार्नेगरी दोहोरिएका सामान्य प्रश्नहरु, तोते बोली, कार्टुनमा रमाउने बानी, वदमाश र शैतानी ब्यवहारहरु अनि तिनिहरुका अवोध गतिविधि, बालबालीकाका जादुई आँखाहरु, शायद प्रकृतीले हामी मानिसलाई पनि यहि रुपमा रहिरहनका लागी बनाएका हुन कि जस्तो पनि लाग्छ ।

शुक्ल पक्षको अन्तिम दिन पूर्णिमा हो । असोज पूर्णिमाले रुपमा आँउदै गरेको दशैं र अन्य चाडपर्वहरुको श्रृखलाहरुलाई औपचारीक स्वागत गरेको छ । यस तिथीमा चन्द्रमा सर्वाधिक चम्किलो र तेजिलो रुपमा रहेको हुन्छ । यस दिन व्रत बस्नाले चन्द्रमाको असिम कृपा प्राप्त हुने र स्वास्थ, समृद्धि र शान्ति प्राप्त हुने विश्वास छ । पूर्णिमाको दिन विशेषगरि भगवान शिव र विष्णुको आराधना गरिन्छ ।

काठमाडौंमा मात्र होइन, नेपालका अधिकांश ठाउँमा चिसो बढ्न थालेको छ, जाडो सुरु भइसकेको छ । आज १ मंसिर । आजबाट मंसिर लाग्यो । मंसिरको महिनालाई निकै धेरै पहिलेदेखि नै चिसोको सुरुवातको महिनाका रुपमा लिने गरिएको छ ।

Gopastami falls on Kartik Shukla Ashtami. This Tithi is associated with the security of Gaumata, the mother cow. Names like Gwala, Gopal, and Gobind have come to prominence due to the love and care of Gaumata. Even Krishna's favorite name is Gobinda, in this context Gopasthami's relevance is connected.

विश्वभरिका सहकारीहरु कोभिड १९ को विषम अवस्थासंग जुधिरहेका छन् । मानव केन्द्रित दिर्घकालिन बिकासको आधार मानिएका सहकारीहरुको अन्तराष्ट्रिय दिवसमा यहाँहरुलाई स्वागत छ । सन् २०२१ मा Rebuild better together, सबैजना मिलेर सुनौलो भविष्यको निर्माण भन्ने नाराका साथ मनाँइदैछ ।

यस एकादशी महत्वपूर्ण आयामहरु बोकेर आएको छ, यस दिनमा तुलसीका दानाहरुलाई जमिनमा छर्ने चलन हुन्छ, कतिले तुलसीको मोठको माटोमा नै तुलसीका दानाहरु अर्थात मन्जरीहरु छर्दछन् भनें कतिले चाँही जमिनमा सफा पारेर माटो फुरुरु बनाएर तुलसी छर्दछन् ।

पौराणिककालमा राजा भगीरथले आफ्ना साठी हजार छोराका मुक्तिका लागि तपस्या गरेर गङ्गा नदीलाई पृथ्वीमा ल्याएको दिनलाई गङ्गा दशहरा मानिन्छ ।

‘युद्धका समयमा भएका यौन हिंसा अनि बलात्कारबाट जन्मेका बालबालिकाले पहिचानको द्वन्द्व र अस्तित्वका लागि युद्ध सकिएको दशकौँसम्म पनि संघर्ष गर्नुपर्ने हुन्छ । हिंसामा परेका बालबालिकाहरूका आमा युद्धपछि पनि आफ्नै समुदाय र परिवारबाटै पनि अपहेलित हुनपर्ने हुन्छ ।

सनातन धर्म र प्राचीन विज्ञानमा पञ्च तत्वको वरिपरि मानवीय चेतनाको ब्याख्या गरिएको पाइन्छ, ‘पृथ्वी, जल, अग्नि, वायु अनि आकाश ।’ यी पाँच तत्वको कारण भएको मानिसको उपस्थितिलाई सर्वमान्य रूपमा आजको विज्ञान र प्राचीन खोजहरूले धार्मिक र सांस्कृतिक रूपमा मानेको छ ।

Dashain, the great festival of Nepali people and a festival carrying cultural significance famous as Navratri. This Chaitey Dashain is a reflection of the main Dashain that occurs during Asoj, Kartik of Bikram Sambat calendar. According to the myths, in the past, the main Dashain used to fall in Chait but due to the dry seasons and frequently occurring droughts later Dashain was shifted to Asoj Kartik (Middle of the year).
