World day of social justice 2021

In this post-covid era, digitalization is transforming the way of living and the alignment of society. Looking back into the past decade, broadband connectivity, access to connection and gadgets, investment in cloud computing and institutionalized database, social media, and other fundaments are penetrating the major aspect of society and markets.

The remote working and other digital interventions in post-covid have led to the rapid reinforcement of digitalization as a panacea. However, workers who are based on specific location and undergo physical work are being exposed to risk and inequalities. Probably, this is why today on February 20th, the global community is commemorating "world day of social justice". And the theme for the year 2021 is "A call for social justice in the digital economy".

Today, it also advocates for full employment and social inclusion. In an economically struggling country like Nepal, most jobs are occupied by the informal sector, which is likely to disrupt social security and inclusion. The Government of Nepal has brought various action plans, periodic plans, and strategies, and national plans for social justice, gender equality, and social security plans acts, etc.

Last year, the Government of Nepal enacted an Act incorporating social security provisions to ensure that social justice and inclusion abide in Nepal's sacred land. However, the implementation part is yet to be fully endorsed.
International Social Justice Day is celebrated on February 20 every year at the call of the United Nations. On November 26, 2007, the United Nations General Assembly declared Social Justice Day. Accordingly, the member nations have been celebrating this day every year.

Nepal with multiple identities and Nepalis have been enduring various kinds of social imbalances and social injustices. The society, which has been made an unnecessary layer of many discriminating practices like touchable and untouchables, is now slowly merging into an equal perimeter.

The new generation of Nepalis believe in social equality. Nepal's most downloaded mobile application "Hamro Patro" calls every one of us to strive for an equal and socially justified society.

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
