What is Mohini Ekadashi?

Mohini Ekadashi falls in the Shukla paksha of Baisakh month. In Sanatana mythology, Mohini is the name of the disguised form of Lord Vishnu which appeared in the form of Mohini Ekadashi. Observing this Ekadashi washes every sin committed in this life and also from previous lives, this Ekadashi delivers more results and glories as achieved by donating a thousand cows or rendering huge charity.

Importance of Mohini Ekadashi ?
Like all other Ekadashis of the year, Mohini Ekadashi has a special and distinct significance. Today, fasting is believed to be very successful and healthy. Like other Ekadashis, this Ekadashi also has a tradition of bathing in the morning and worshiping Lord Vishnu. From the recitation of Vishnu Sahasranama to Harikirtan, the recitation of Ekadashi Mahatmaya and staying awake at night (Jagram) is done.

Related to the ancient incident of "Samundra Manthan" when a dispute emerged between gods and demons upon the consumption of Amrit (Immortal nectar). This was when Lord Vishnu took a form of a beautiful woman "Mohini", engaging demons by her beauty gods were able to drink the immortal nectar and defeat demons. This is my this is called "Mohini Ekadashi", Mohini translates to mesmerizing beauty. Ramayana also cites this Ekadashi, Lord Rama observed this Ekadashi on his pursuit of finding Sita, Mahabharata also brings this Ekadashi where Yudhsithira observes this day with this true wish to institutionalize truth by defeating Kauravas.

Background:

The day aims to raise awareness about the humanitarian work carried out by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies around the world, and to celebrate the contributions of its volunteers and staff.

Theme of world Red Cross day 2025
The World Red Cross and Red Crescent Day 2025 theme is "I give with joy, and the joy I give is a reward". This theme encourages individuals to give with joy and recognize the joy they receive from helping others as a reward.

However, the entire global ceremony will be made under the message “Keeping Humanity Alive:.

In the past, the themes have focused on issues such as health, disaster management, and the role of youth in promoting humanitarian values. The day is usually marked by events and activities organized by the Red Cross and Red Crescent Societies, including blood donation drives, health camps, and emergency response simulations.

Nepal Red cross society
The Nepal Red Cross Society (NRCS) is a humanitarian organization that operates in Nepal. It was established in 1963 and has since been providing assistance to those affected by disasters, conflicts, and other emergencies in the country.

NRCS is part of the International Red Cross and Red Crescent Movement, which is the world's largest humanitarian network. It works in close collaboration with the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) and other national Red Cross and Red Crescent societies to provide assistance to those in need.

NRCS's main activities include disaster management, health promotion, blood transfusion services, and community-based programs. It also provides assistance in times of conflicts, including support to victims of violence and those separated from their families.

The Nepal Red Cross Society has played a significant role in responding to major disasters in the country, including the 2015 earthquake that caused widespread devastation. The organization provided emergency relief, medical assistance, and support to affected communities in the aftermath of the disaster. Overall, the Nepal Red Cross Society continues to play a crucial role in promoting humanitarian values and providing assistance to those in need in Nepal.
