Government Employee Released on Bail for Indecent Exposure

Kathmandu. A government employee who was walking alone in a street in Imadol, Lalitpur, exposing his private parts has been released on bail. Education officer Surendra Bhatta, originally from Baitadi, was released by order of the Chief District Officer of Lalitpur. According to an official at the Lalitpur District Police Range, he was released on a bail of 20,000 rupees as per the order of the District Administration. The police had arrested him on Asar 22. The Satdobato Police Circle had investigated him under the offense of indecent exposure in a public place as per the Muluki Criminal Code 2074. If convicted of this offense, there is a legal provision of up to 6 months imprisonment. Bhatta, who is an officer at the National University of Defense Studies in Singh Durbar, with his cadre at the Education Coordination Unit under the Ministry of Education, was accused of misconduct by the victimized young woman on the evening of Asar 21 around 6 PM, who posted a video on the social media platform TikTok. Bhatta has denied the accusation that he exposed his private parts after opening his clothes upon seeing the young woman alone in the street. He gave a denial statement during his statement to the investigating officer and the public prosecutor. The young woman alleges that Bhatta opened his clothes and showed his private parts after seeing her alone in the street. She then bravely followed him, filming with her smartphone.
