Scientists Prepare to Study Sun's Magnetic Field During Total Solar Eclipse

Kathmandu. Scientists are preparing to use the total solar eclipse visible from Spain on August 12 as a rare opportunity to understand the Sun's magnetic field, outer atmosphere, and solar storms. Scientists believe that because the Moon will completely cover the Sun for some time, it will be easier to directly study the Sun's outer layer, which is difficult to observe under normal circumstances.

During a total solar eclipse, as the Moon blocks the Sun's intense light, scientists will conduct detailed observations of the Sun's corona and chromosphere. According to Alain Sachabrun, an astronomer at France's Atomic Energy Commission (CEA), this study will help to better understand the physical processes that drive solar activity and explain its long-term evolution.
