Three arrested for defrauding job seekers

Kathmandu. Three people have been arrested by the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office for defrauding people by luring them with attractive jobs in various countries. They were arrested based on complaints filed after they duped and collected money from unemployed youths and young women by promising to send them for foreign employment, and then disappeared. Among those arrested is Ghana Tiwari, 46, a permanent resident of Salyan, Chauku VDC-4, currently residing in Suryabinayak-5, Bhaktapur. She defrauded 5 victims of Rs 1.6 million by promising to send them to New Zealand. She was arrested from Suryabinayak on Shrawan 20. Similarly, Ram Bahadur Khadka, 33, a permanent resident of Galkot Municipality-1, Baglung, currently residing in Kirtipur-4, Kathmandu, has also been arrested. He is accused of defrauding one victim of Rs 2.5 million by promising to send them to Germany. He was arrested from Changu Narayan-6, Bhaktapur on Shrawan 21. Likewise, Subodh Jung Kunwar, 30, a permanent resident of Byas VDC-6, Darchula, currently residing in Chandragiri-3, Kathmandu, has also been arrested. He was arrested from Kathmandu Metropolitan City-12 on Shrawan 21 on charges of defrauding one victim of Rs 600,000 by promising to send them to UAE. The Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office has sent all three arrested individuals to the Department of Foreign Employment, Tahachal, Kathmandu for further investigation and necessary action, informed Police Superintendent Rameshwar Karki, Information Officer of the Kathmandu Valley Crime Investigation Office.
