Kathmandu. The 'King's Signature Campaign' (referendum) in favor of monarchy, which was being conducted under the leadership of Pashupati Khadka in Royal Youth Power Nepal, has been announced to be stopped. As the organization announced the removal of its chairman Pashupati Khadka citing various allegations, the new leadership has decided to stop this campaign for the time being, concluding that it was being used for personal gain.
In a statement issued on Friday by the newly appointed chairman Maniraj Thapaliya and others after Khadka's coup, it was argued that 'the King is common to all' and signatures should not be collected for the benefit of any limited group. 'The King is common to both monarchy supporters and republic supporters,' the statement said, 'It was seen that a limited number of people were running this campaign solely to achieve their personal interests, therefore we strongly condemn it.'
