Kathmandu. An American official said that the Strait of Hormuz, a strategic waterway, will reopen after talks between Iran and Oman, with positive progress being made. Reuters, quoting the American official on condition of anonymity, stated that the agreement between Iran and Oman, two countries bordering the waterway, will allow commercial oil transport to resume, and the United States expects an agreement to be reached soon. The official also stated that the United States will lift sanctions on Iranian ports once an agreement to restore commercial transport is announced, Reuters reported. The official emphasized that future steps will depend on how Iran fulfills its obligations, expressing the US expectation that Iran will implement its commitments.

Earlier, US President Donald Trump had expressed hope that fuel prices could decrease as the Strait of Hormuz, a waterway between the United States and Iran, approached a potential agreement. According to Fox News, progress in the talks is expected to help stabilize the Strait of Hormuz, the world's most important maritime trade route for oil transport, and if the talks are successful, hopes are high that gasoline prices will decrease.
