Far-Western Province Assembly Spends Rs 140.2 Million, Passes Only Two Bills

Dhangadhi. Only Rs 140.2 million has been spent for the operation of the Far-Western Province Assembly in the last fiscal year 2082/83. According to the data of the Province Treasury and Comptroller Office, this amount has been spent from the state coffer under titles such as assembly operation, service facilities for members, salaries and allowances, private secretary's facilities, vehicles, and fuel.

Despite spending such a large amount, the achievement of the Province Assembly has been very weak. In the last fiscal year, the Province Assembly passed only two bills. Both of these are bills that make minor amendments to existing laws, not new laws. In other words, in the period of one year, the Province Assembly could not create a single new law with a new concept and addressing the direct concerns of the people. It appears that the Province Assembly has fulfilled its legislative role by amending some sections of old laws.
