Opposition Party Criticizes Prime Minister's Facebook Focus and Border Remarks

Kathmandu. The opposition party CPN (UML) has objected to Prime Minister Balendra Shah's address to the nation being more focused on private Facebook pages and monetization than on government media. In Monday's meeting of the House of Representatives, Chief Whip Nita Ghataani said that while the use of technology is good, it is unfortunate that the Prime Minister is engaged in a game to increase Facebook views by bypassing state official bodies.

MP Ghataani protested the Prime Minister's statement in the rostrum of Parliament implying that Nepal has encroached upon India's border. "On what facts, evidence, and diplomatic basis did the Prime Minister speak on such a sensitive issue?" she said, "The government and power are temporary, but geography and sovereignty are permanent. Expressions that question the dignity of one's own country must be immediately removed from the parliamentary record, and the Prime Minister must apologize for this."
