Incompetence in Infrastructure Development: Dudhmati River Bridge Construction Remains Incomplete After Seven Years

Janakpurdham. The fact that a concrete bridge, even in an easily accessible area, has remained unfinished for seven years after being contracted, let alone in geographically difficult locations, is an extreme example of the incompetence prevalent in the field of infrastructure development.

The bridge over the Dudhmati River in Janakpur, the capital of Madhesh Province, has been under construction for seven years and remains incomplete. The six-lane road from Dhalkebar-Janakpur-Jatahi was constructed with the objective of connecting Janakpurdham with the border areas of India such as Biththamore, Matihani, and Jatahi, thereby promoting trade and religious tourism. Even though the six-lane road has been operational for years, the bridge over the Dudhmati River has not been built. As a result, despite the construction of the Janakpur-Jatahi six-lane road, the state and the public have not been able to reap the expected benefits due to the absence of the bridge over the Dudhmati.
