Senior Journalist Kishore Shrestha Arrested for News Report; Media Society Protests

Kathmandu. The Nepal Media Society has expressed serious objection to the incident where police arrested senior journalist and chief editor of Janastha Weekly, Kishore Shrestha, solely for writing a news report.

The society has determined that arresting someone based on a news report published by a journalist, when any complaints or objections regarding the content should be resolved through established legal and press-related procedures, is contrary to the core spirit of press and freedom of expression.
