Kathmandu. The National Health Education, Information and Communication Center under the Department of Health Services has appealed to the general public to be aware of the risk of Japanese Encephalitis disease. This is a serious disease in which infection occurs in the human brain through mosquito bites.
Although this disease can affect people of any age group, it is mostly seen in children under 15 years of age. This disease is transmitted when mosquitoes that have bitten birds such as ducks and chickens, and animals such as pigs, which are infected with this virus, bite humans. However, this disease does not spread directly from person to person. In Nepal, the infection of Japanese Encephalitis is seen more from the month of Shrawan to Kartik.
