Kathmandu. A study has shown that the condition of sexual harassment and oppression faced by female athletes in the Nepali sports sector is serious.
A study conducted by the National Sports Health and Fitness Association Nepal mentions that a large number of participating female athletes have faced harassment and mental pressure at various stages of sports. The report titled 'Status of Sexual Harassment on Nepalese Women Sportsmen', prepared under the leadership of Prof. Divakar Lal Amatya, included 276 female athletes playing at national and international levels. Athletes from 15 sports including Karate, Kabaddi, Athletics, Weightlifting, Gymnastics, Judo, Volleyball, Boxing, Wushu, Taekwondo, Football, Archery, Basketball, Table Tennis, and Rugby were included in the study.
