Mystery Disease Kills 19 Elephants in Kenya, Veterinarians Baffled

Kenya. In southern Kenya, an elephant, the latest potential victim of a mysterious disease, lay on the ground, trying in vain to get up, kicking up dust. He looked very tired.

Concerned veterinarians gave glucose (injection) as soon as they saw the distressed elephant. Since the cause was unknown, this was the only option. By the time the glucose was administered, the 11-year-old elephant 'Genghis Khan' was having difficulty breathing.
