Dreams Fade Through Postponement

Millions of people carry dreams they rarely speak about: a business they want to start, a book they hope to write, a career they wish to start. Most of us know people who talk about their dreams but do not take any steps to accomplish them. If we’re honest, many of us have been that person ourselves. One year becomes five, then ten, until the dream survives more as a story we tell about ourselves than as something we genuinely expect to achieve. Yet many of us never move beyond imagining it. Why do only a few actively pursue those dreams? Why do so many hesitate to take the first step required to turn them into reality? What causes ambition to give way to procrastination?
