Chief Secretary States Court Cases Hinder Government Performance

Kathmandu. Chief Secretary Govinda Bahadur Karki has stated that the government has not been able to perform as per its target due to ongoing cases in the Supreme Court. He expressed this view while addressing the 'Budget Watch' program organized by the Nepal Industry Confederation.

Speaking at the program, Chief Secretary Karki informed that new provisions have been included to make the public procurement process simpler, more competitive, and modern. He stated that legal provisions related to the use of forest areas for operating hydropower and other government projects have been made easier compared to the past. While acknowledging that some matters have not become as easy as expected despite legal reforms, he clarified that difficulties in performance have arisen due to cases being sub-judice in the Supreme Court.
