Sher Bahadur Deuba Expresses Personal Faith in Hinduism, Emphasizes Religious Freedom

Kathmandu. Nepali Congress leader and former Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba, speaking on the religious identity of Nepal, stated that he personally has faith in the Sanatan Hindu religion.

Addressing the closing ceremony of a 3-day national gathering of the splinter group held in Sukedhara, Kathmandu, Deuba said, 'I am personally a Hindu. I have undergone the sacred thread ceremony and got married according to Hindu traditions. I visit Pashupatinath and perform worship. However, what should or should not happen in the country (regarding religion) depends on the decision of the people. There should be religious freedom for everyone in the country.'
