Independent Lawyers Forum Boycotts Patan High Court Bar Election Citing Irregularities

Kathmandu. The Independent Lawyers Forum has announced its boycott of the High Court Bar Association, Patan's election process, alleging it was fraudulent, one-sided, opaque, and oppressive. On Sunday, the forum organized a press conference in the capital's Dialogue Dabali, also accusing the election committee of being a follower of the UML-affiliated PPLA's directives.

The forum's acting chairman, advocate Harichandra Bhattarai, alleged that activities contrary to the established norms of free and fair elections took place during the election. He claimed that the election process and management were one-sided, and that the vote count was invalid due to the infiltration of unauthorized individuals and the casting of fake votes.
