Chitwan. Rattnanagar Municipality has stopped the process of documenting old structures built without map approval and issuing completion certificates for structures built in violation of approved standards and procedures. The municipality has stopped the process as per the circular and decision of the Ministry of Urban Development (Building Construction Strengthening Committee) and the Ministry of Land Management, Cooperatives, Federal Affairs and General Administration. The municipality has directed all its 16 ward offices to disseminate this information to the citizens, informed Prakashchandra Dhungana, engineer at the municipality's Land Management and Building Regulation Branch.
According to him, houses, sheds, and other structures built without old map approvals will no longer be documented and mapped. Similarly, the process of documenting and legalizing structures built in a different way than the approved map after obtaining map approval from the municipality, constructing additional structures, or arbitrarily altering structures has also been stopped. Engineer Dhungana said, "This arrangement has been made to discourage the tendency of constructing structures arbitrarily without the permission of the municipality. Documentation and issuance of construction completion certificates for such structures will no longer be done."
