Accidents and emergencies are unpleasant, but humans cannot rule out the possibility of such incidents happening. Accidents can happen to anyone, anywhere, anytime. Knowledge of first aid can reduce the lifetime risk of the injured, save lives by preventing accidents from turning into tragedy.
When it comes to first aid skills, many must have learned professionally and practically at the school level. Do accidents happen at the door of the hospital? Of course not and this is why the probability of mortality and risks are higher. First aid enables us to save the lives of humans and serve mankind.
Increasing the number of skilled first aid workers in the community can make our community safer and healthier. Even in a developing country like Nepal where the availability of instant aid /treatment is hard, the importance of first aid is still very high. Accidents and emergencies are inevitable, but first aid can reduce the risk of death if something happens.
This day has been celebrated since 2000 at the initiative of IFRC. Nepal is a beautiful country, but the fact that there has not been much improvement in public health issues for centuries and this fact opposes the natural beauty and geographical diversity. Theoretically, there shall be a health post in every village but we have seen the ugly face and limitations of the implementation side. Nepali villages are still not in the mainstream of health care due to the lack of steps of trained public health workers and conscious public health administrators and many other structural problems. Easy training and provision of primary health care would not have cost the precious life in Nepali villages for simple health and hygiene reasons.
Various studies have shown that the cardiac arrest rate in Nepal will increase from the current 9 percent to about 34 percent by 2030. The number of deaths in road accidents on Nepali roads, which is increasing by 10.22 percent every year, the mortality rate on those accidents are increasing by 5.40 percent every year. It is important to start health care immediately to save lives, and Nepal needs to be more proactive in providing first aid and training.
In this post COVID world, the whole paradigm of nationality and patriotism is changing, now not just camouflaged dresses but white coat health workers are also the soldiers on the front line, the first aid day of this year has a special significance.
Let's try to discuss and share life-saving treatment skills as much as possible on First Aid Day. Wishing peace and prosperity everywhere.
Sorha Shradhha: Dwadashi Shradhha
With the commencement of the Sorha Saddha may all the godlike Pitri in the Pitri realm between heaven and earth obtain salvation, may all the Pitri cross the Baitarni River, and may the ancestral love be maintained.
May the blessings of the ancestors be maintained, May goodness and good wishes are maintained, and we are the remnants of the ancestors in today's form, aren't we?
Tarpan, Diyo Puja, Vishwedeva Brahman, and other pujas can be performed before the appointed time. There is a belief that if the Pinda is not donated at this time, the Pitris will not get it. Sanatana Philosophy largely acknowledges the importance of Pitri in the existence of life and the universe.
In Vedic Sanatan Sanskrit, Pitrikarma i.e. shraddha is usually performed twice, regular shraddha is performed on the tithi of death and another shraddha is performed during the period of Sorha shraddhas. May peace and happiness prevail in every family with the commencement of this year's Sorha Shraddha Wishing for the salvation of the Pitri who passed away on the Dwadashi Shraddha date.
