Shani Pradosh Vrata । International Day of Sport for Development and Peace

Shani Pradosh Vrata
Pradosh Vrat
Triodashi is called Pradosh. Like Ekadashi, Pradosh is important every month, Vishnu is remembered in Ekadashi and Shiva is remembered in Pradosh. Pradosh begins 45 minutes before sunset and ends 45 minutes after sunset.

As today's Pradosh Vrat fell on Saturday ie, Sanibar, this is why it's called Shani Pradosh Vrat.

Pradosha Katha

It is mentioned in the scriptures that Lord Shiva cured the disease of the moon on the day of Triodashi, when the effect of the moon was diminishing.

Due to this, Pradosh Vrat is observed in Triodashi of every month in remembrance of Lord Shiva. It is more fruitful to worship Shiva in the time of pradosh.

The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace
The International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is celebrated every year on April 6th to recognize the power of sport to promote peace, unity, and development around the world. The day was declared by the United Nations General Assembly in 2013 and has been celebrated annually ever since. Nepal has been celebrating this day from 2015.

It is a day to highlight the role of sports in promoting social inclusion, gender equality, and sustainable development. It also recognizes the ability of sports to bridge cultural and ethnic divides and to promote understanding and respect among different communities.

Theme 2024

The global theme for 2024 is “Sport for the Promotion of Peaceful and Inclusive Societies”.
As in previous years, this overarching theme allows for IDSDP activities to broadly focus around the impact and influence of sport on sustainable development and peace.

The day is marked by various events and activities, including sports competitions, panel discussions, and community outreach programs. These events aim to promote awareness about the benefits of sports for development and peace, and to encourage people to participate in sports activities.

Overall, the International Day of Sport for Development and Peace is an important occasion to promote the role of sports in building a more peaceful and inclusive world, and to recognize the positive impact that sports can have on individuals, communities, and societies as a whole.

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
