World Aids day 2020

Outbreaks appear to be exacerbated around the world from time to time, whether it is HIV, rabies, or covid. On World AIDS Day 2020, the human race is also battling another giant virus, Covid 19. Therefore, this year's slogan is to end the HIV / AIDS epidemic and fight against this virus, a resistant and effective world is envisaged.

“Ending the HIV/AIDS Epidemic: Resilience and Impact”

The Covid effect this year has adversely affected the ambition to reduce 90 percent of new HIV infections, treat and reduce 90 percent discrimination by 2030. Today, we would like to commemorate the HIV positive and affected people living in remote villages of Nepal and with limited access to health facilities. This year, they may not have been able to go to the health center to count CD4, to get an ARV, due to COVID impact and panic.

The concerned agencies and government should pay attention to the families who are suffering from the effects of both Covid aftermath and living with HIV.

World AIDS Day first calls on us to speak openly about sexual and reproductive health and rights, carrying various banners, signs, and promotional materials with red ribbons, organizing various rallies, gatherings, seminars to spread awareness about HIV / AIDS.

This year, due to the Corona terror, all the programs will be made virtual. HIV and AIDS are two different things, HIV is a virus that causes AIDS. HIV is now considered more of an infection than a disease worldwide.

Not every HIV-infected person has AIDS. Today, HIV-positive people are getting the same comfortable and long life as others by adopting regular use of medicine and undergoing a healthy lifestyle. Their medicines are freely available in various government health institutions of the Nepal government.

Today, on World AIDS Day, lamps are lit for the eternal peace of the souls of all those infected with HIV. Until a decade ago, HIV was an epidemic in Nepal, an epidemic is an infection that can happen to anyone.

Due to the increasing support and investment of governmental and non-governmental organizations, the knowledge and public awareness of HIV among Nepalis is increasing and today HIV has become a concentrated epidemic. Now the prevalence of HIV is concentrated within a certain risk group population. The Government of Nepal has set up a National AIDS and STD Control Center in Teku Kathmandu to deal with issues related to HIV and its multifaceted impact, especially on HIV and other sexually transmitted diseases.

Just as HIV became an epidemic only in a targeted group, so too is COVID-19 expected to decrease soon. The world desperately needs a vaccine for both HIV and covid.
Stay safe everyone

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
