Among the 30 Tithis of Hindu month, Aunshi is considered almost at the mid of these Tiithis. The moon is completely invisible on this night and Aunshi is considered to be the darkest night of the month.
There is a taboo that Aunshi is an inauspicious day, black magic and negative energies prevails on this day. But these are totally irrelevant, Aunshi is just like other normal days of a month, rather Poushe Aunshi is considered very important for Pitri Udhhar.
Poush is also a month of Sauvagya Laxmi, worshiping and acknowledging Dhana Laxmi and Dhanya Laxmi on this day is considered very fruitful. As this Aunshi is also very important for Pitri Udhhar, today a huge crowd of devotees is seen in specific pilgrimages like Gokarna of Kathmandu, Barahkshetra of Sunsari, and Kagbeni of Mustang. Til Dan, Vastra Dan, Pinda Dan, and several other Dans are very auspicious to happen on this specific day. One who gives such Dan on this day shall nullify negative planetary impacts on his life.
