Nepal Pride Parade

Nepal Pride Parade
The month of June is celebrated as the Pride Month around the world. The month is dedicated to PoMSOGIESC (People of Marginalized Sexual Orientation, Gender Identity and Sex Characteristics), also known as Gender and Sexual Minorities. The concept of Pride emerges from the fact that our society shames LGBTIQ+ people and stigmatizes their gender identity and sexual identity, and therefore Pride is a rebellion against this shaming. Around the world, a march or a parade is organized during this month known as the Pride Parade.

It has been four years Nepal started its own Pride Parade. Since 2019, Queer Youth Group has been organizing Pride Parade on the Second Saturday of the June month. Prior to this, there wasn't any separate Pride Day or Parade. For next two years, Nepal Pride Parade took virtual medium due to the pandemic. The fourth Pride this year is the second in physical attendance.

This year the Second Saturday of June is on 2022 June 11 (2079 Jeth 28). The gathering is scheduled at Fibwakhya (Maitighar), Kathmandu from 10:30 am while the parade ends at New Baneshwar.

Hamro Patro - Connecting Nepali Communities
Hamro Patro is one of the first Nepali app to include Nepali Patro, launched in 2010. We started with a Nepali Calendar mobile app to help Nepalese living abroad stay in touch with Nepalese festivals and important dates in Nepali calendar year. Later on, to cater to the people who couldn’t type in Nepali using fonts like Preeti, Ganesh and even Nepali Unicode, we built nepali mobile keyboard called Hamro Nepali keyboard.
